    Another lesson could be to buy them unhemmed, so you could try them on and then have them hemmed later, which I realize you wanted them by the 1st, but this would save agony and money.

      Yea I always get mine hemmed a good 20-30 wears after wearing. That way I can get a better gauge as to the "shrinkage" from the setting of creases behind the knee. But I've got access to a Union Special 43200G in town, and I know most people do not.

      Wants List:
      IHSH-20-Red, XL
      IHSH-208-Indigo Kersey, L-XL
      IHSH-254-Grey Kersey, L-XL
      IHSW-45 Black, M
      IH-526SV 21oz type III, 38 or 40
      IH-777S-SB size 32
      IH-777S-142 size 31 or 32

        Why is it that I cannot seem to find the “Tell us all what you’ve got” (as mentioned by @chrisjohnnick) Sub Forum straight from the homepage? Obviously I can follow his link, but apart from that it seems elusive. Thanks

        It was homeless, for some reason. We have moved it so you can locate it on the homepage again

          Do all iron heart shirts have the painted logo on the inside?

          Hi all!
          Thank you for this great forum and community.
          I inherited my brothers wardrobe
          so I am just learning about IH .
          I noticed that this black and blue shirt does not have the painted logo on the inside like the other ones do.

            @mantradeeksha Welcome to the forum and here is the answer to your question from when it previously came up:

            @Giles said in IHSH-264-NAV - Ultra Heavy Flannel Ombré Check Western Shirt - Navy/Black:

            @SaddleSC:

            Good evening guys and gals…I recently purchased a new IHSH-264 from a Stockist in the US and I noticed something a bit strange. Every other Iron Heart shirt I own (including 3 other UHF westerns and a newly acquired Wabash work shirt) have the "Genuine Quality Iron Heart -- Made in Japan" with the care instructions painted (or screen printed) inside the shirt on the left. However, this new IHSH-264 is completely blank inside. Is Iron Heart no longer including this cool detail inside the UHF flannels? Did this one slip past QC without the printing? Any insight would be greatly appreciated...thanks!

            @neph93 @AdamJ @Giles

            As a general rule,  it is no longer being included.

              I very much like the inner print and am sad it’s been phased out.

                  Yeah, it is a cool print it love it. Perhaps it is because the message wasn't always meant to apply to every garmet literally as it is stated. I recall a conversation on here not too long ago about that. Maybe a new message and print could replace it to keep it going in a different way.

                    No, it's because Haraki and Tom decided to get rid of it because of the cost. They did not ask us for our input unfortunately.........@Alex has lobbied for its return.

                    But one thing that you need to realise about the Japanese physche, is that westerners are very rarely right. This was best epitomised by a friend who started a brand and had some jeans made in Japan. He specced them with infinite detail, when the sample was delivered it was completely different. Upon cross examination, the Japanese workshop owner told him that they had ignored the written sizing spec and made them to a pattern that he really meant to specify.

                    For a time, said friend and I talked about writing a book together. The title of which was going to be something along the lines of The Challenges of Working in Japan. The sub title I came up with was "If they made what you asked them to make, they must have misheard you".....

                              Getting fed up with cold legs when out with the dog - am I right in thinking whipcord is the best material for cold-weather trousers/pants (within the IH offerings), and that the Division Road variant are the slimmest legged option? Wouldn’t necessarily opt for cargoes, but I am coming at this from 555s…

                                @Nocturama I love the whipcord for cold weather and have the cargo version. I can not wear them in warmer weather though.

                                As stated many times before, that really depends on a persons tolerance of hot and cold temperatures.

                                  I have a random fabric question for y’all today. I’ve noticed that synthetic and natural fibers interact differently with liquids. Does anyone have a resource / know why… synthetic materials differ? (My thoughts go to thread/fiber size and it being able to be smaller) also why do different liquids (water, oil, alcohol) interact differently with cotton fabrics?

                                  A mix of curiosity and chemistry maybe 🤔 For denim science!!! 👖🔬🥼 Thank you friends

                                    I got my first pair of Iron Heart jeans recently, an old womens discontinued tomboy pair I was happy to snag off ebay for the cheap-ish! I really love these jeans and wish they were still in production- but now, for my question. My pants are a very close fit for me, and are very snug around the waist. The denim is obviously very stiff, the 21 oz, and sometimes i feel like the waistband is cutting into my sides. I have had them for four months now, and havent washed them yet, i think for now i would prefer not to, but i wonder if anyone has any advice on how to soften the waistband up a bit?

                                      @mitzimeow people on here (myself included) will probably tell you that the 21oz is the softest denim IH makes, aside from maybe the 16oz slub. If you wash them, they might shrink a bit but they'll stretch back out to where they are now with just a couple wears.

                                      You can stretch out the waist with a pant stretcher like the one I'll post below. I bought one and it was well worth it, as it's helped me get a little extra in the waists of a couple pairs of jeans that were a little too tight for me. I haven't done it myself, but I believe you can get even more stretch if you use the stretcher while the jeans are wet.

                                      https://www.amazon.com/Generic-Stretcher-Adjustable-Stretch-30-YSKC001/dp/B0D2Q6FQDF/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?crid=5ZEOQWNWPFE1&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.d0f57AKW1ICzCy8-TRuIwF7sgOFZ9KpGDxtAETly0njT_H5T0BCol8GT3AncKFXzCv9cJrY5p4jSl3pUOqxv0XyS_WQTamltRmaGt-b792d8PyR4N4aOVo2Vhxc4RHFXL6Al0_ICdcYhCD7UNHJPfrhAs1xa7kc_D25R2YIdznraKAaDowyAhMSqyvGbvKTo7rUo2BYnBTKQB8IfRL3z9c1-kMZb-nvlEuxnJu_5fjd7MwpDwI8tzYByghVd0AJ1bBZdiLtAlaRlj8kzxsyXQoAiukYU8omjiuYb2PsMHzQ.iMBkJZFFzGIsvksuIbvKmjjcXGVFCoMEjIuOMTI-0YM&dib_tag=se&keywords=pants+stretcher&qid=1736783051&sprefix=pants+stretcher%2Caps%2C335&sr=8-2-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&psc=1

                                      PS sorry for that big ugly link. You can also just look up "pants stretcher" on Amazon and you'll get quite a lot of options. Typicall the wooden semicircle bits with the adjustable threaded piece in between.
