RE: Iron Heart Products - What do you think we should make?posted in Future and Planned Products
I use these pattern hooks that I got locally from Imogene + Willie here in Nashville. I've tried to source different ones or even make my own, but for $3 a piece they are hard to beat.

@T4920 said in BROTHERHOOD OF BIB:
Still holding about for a Hickory bib re-release, or a lucky find on the secondary market..
I'd 100% arrive in Hamburg head to toe in that fabric

Oh yea?

I have a lot, but the ones that jump out first are:
This UHF I have where the lines match up perfectly on the back collar, yoke, and back panel:

How the panels on all IH shirts are always perfectly mirrored. Most notably on UHF pockets:

And how the lines are pattern matched perfectly on seams:

RE: The (Less intimidating) Watch Threadposted in Accessories
My Grandfather was a pilot and a navigator in the Navy and Air Forces during WWII. The plane he was on went down somewhere over the Philippines in 1945, and he floated in the ocean for a few days before being rescued. Somewhere over the years, the Type A-11 that he wore (and was wearing at that time) found it's way into my hands. It wasn't working, and is rusted out in areas (obvs) but has always meant a lot to me. I finally found another one from the same maker (Elgin) and the same year (1944) and decided to pick it up. It is also in perfect working order and has a period-correct olive watch band on it! Beyond stoked to be wearing this piece and think of Grandpop every time I put it on!
Here's his original watch, which I have on a shelf on our family gallery wall:

And here is the one I just picked up:

Local denim makers here in Nashville, Imogene + Willie, hosted a Pinewood Derby race in their backyard on Thursday night. I entered on a whim and won first place.
Also, when naming and painting my car, I learned that there were different spelling of Selvage and Selvedge depending on the country. The more you know!

RE: The North Faceposted in Other Brands and Shops
@sabergirl our power went out Sunday morning at 6am. Still out now. My house it at the bottom of a big hill, too. So when it gets icy we’re just kinda stuck down there until it all melts. We stuck it out until this morning with our gas fireplace going every couple hours and cooking meals on the grill outside, but we finally just hitched a ride to an Airbnb with power and heat 10 mins away. Got to be too cold inside the house.
Every single year we get a big snow storm in mid Jan to mid Feb that shuts the roads and the city down for a few days, but usually we still have power. I work in hifi medical simulations, so when power is back up, we’re probably going to have a solid week of just resetting and recalibrating stuff. Ugh.
Anyways, yes I’m a fan of TNG for cold weather gear! We also have two North Face stores in Nashville. One at Green Hills Mall with all the fancy fashion trendy stuff, and one at the outlet mall in Opry Mills that has more of the staples and core stuff that I like better. I’ve also seen some higher end north face stuff at TJ Maxx around Oct-Dec, like $800 jackets for $150.

Don’t have a lot of north face that I wear in my day to day, but all of my extreme weather and snow gear is north face. Currently using my snow bibs and huge down jacket and Montana ski gloves in this frigid cold icy nightmare that is upon Nashville right now.

Anyone on here a part of their local IATSE? I work occasionally with 915 as a Stitcher/Dresser/Wardrobe Assistant in Nashville, and just curious if anyone else here did similar work.

@Chap thinking back, that 20k quote may have been for both teeth to have been worked on, but it was still a big heck no from me.
Still wouldn’t wish that pain from the first one on anyone.

RE: Random Rantsposted in General Chat
@Matt I had pretty much the exact same situation about a year and a half ago. One of my upper teeth, the second one from the back, was sore and hurting for a couple months. I ignored it, thinking I would bring it up to the dentist for my regular checkup since it wasn’t constant and was on and off. Eventually, it got so bad that it was always throbbing, and then my gums got swollen and infected. The infection spread up into my cheeks and down into my jaw. I couldn’t sleep, it hurt to lay still, it hurt to talk, it hurt to eat, everything fucking sucked. I went to a walk-in dental clinic since I don’t have dental insurance, and they quoted me upwards of $20,000 for root canal, new crown, post-op, etc. Getting the tooth pulled was $200. Easier decision I’ve ever had to make.
When I finally got in to see my regular dentist for a cleaning, they happen to mention that I had something that looked similar on my other side on the bottom. They said it might start to happen in about six months or so. Almost 6 months to the day, I started to feel some slight pain and what not in the tooth that they said it would happen. Got that one pulled as well, because I don’t feel like dealing with any of all the other stuff right now the second one went much smoother and easier.
The crazy thing is, with both of those teeth they were from crowns that I had put in about 20 or 25 years ago. The dentist told me that crowns are only meant to last about that long, sometimes less than that. I didn’t even know that that was a thing. I had them done when I was young, and I guess I just always assumed they were permanent.
