Just read through the posts in this thread about student loan payments. I just started a new job at a big university here in Nashville in the medical field. I believe that full time employees get free or very discounted tuition for themselves and their immediate family. I can hold out for another 8 years until my oldest is college-aged and get some good free education! My in-laws did FL pre-paid education for my wife to attend FSU, and I took my damn time paying for college out of pocket semester by semester until I got my bachelor's (took about 9 years) but we are both college-educated and free of student loans. So stoked to work for a university that offers programs for employees and their families!
Well done!
And a humbling reminder for me to remember to appreciate living in a country where education is free, and students are entitled to scholarship stipends.

RIP Todd Snider
He came and played a few blocks firm my house for the opening show of his first tour in 3 years on 10/30. Sadly, it would be his final performance. He headed to Salt Lake City for his next show. There, things took a horrifying turn. Dealing with horrible health problems (spinal stenosis) he had an unexplained run in with being attacked on the streets, that turned into a hospital stay, then eventually being arrested. For those that loved him, these things just didn’t make sense for this peaceful and beautiful soul.
His tour was canceled and he went home to Nashville. Upon his return, things continued to devolve. He was diagnosed with walking pneumonia and passed away. It’s hard to not associate the traumatic events that befell him in Salt Lake City to his untimely passing. The saddest ending to a bright and troubled light in music.

One more thing:
The most incredible aspect of Todd, was his story telling skills. He was funny and poignant and all together genuine down to his core. This is one of his stories about meeting one of his greatest heros, Jerry Jeff Walker. If you’re a music lover and enjoy great story telling, I think you’ll enjoy this.

Gut-wrenching and senseless, it seems, from what murky things have been said about the whole affair. He may have already had walking pneumonia gestating whenever the mysterious beating took place. Just such a tragic and seemingly avoidable loss.
Some love to @Mizmazzle and @SourPower for coming to my birthday party with your amazing spouses and giving me treasured, thoughtful gifts well! You didn't need to fellas but I am sure enjoying them--much love.

@mclaincausey @Mizmazzle through this world of trouble we gotta love one another! RIP Todd

@Alex @AdamJ and everyone at IHUK who is responsible for the upgrade on the new sales platform...I know it's been out for a while now, but today was the test of all tests...if we couldn't break it today, then what you guys accomplished is extremely impressive.
Hats off to all of you for an outstanding achievement.

Hell yeah fellas. -
I have a Parkinson's patient, just a few years older than me. A total film nerd, like me. Every time he comes to see me, we chat about old movies. In the 90s, he was a big name in marketing at Warner Germany.
He knows about my love for Robin Williams, and once he commented on the photo of Oliver Sacks I have hanging in my office, and we talked about 'The Man Who Mistook His Wife...' and 'Awakenings'.
Last week he came by and said he wanted to give me something, and that I should accept it because he had two of it. Otherwise, he wouldn't have given it to me. It was an original poster of 'Awakenings' (German version) from 1990. And it's signed by Robin Williams!!!
I
almosthad tears in my eyes. Now the framed poster hangs in my living room.

Sorry for all the reflections, but I couldn't do better.

@endo What a beautiful gift.
-
@endo that’s a fantastic story and speaks volumes for the empathy you have and relationships you have developed with your patients. Really heartwarming.
-
@endo absolutely amazing, and agree with @IrishHeart - you must be giving so much more to this patient than you know
