RE: That's Jokesposted in General Chat
I received a phone call from a gorgeous ex-girlfriend this morning who called 'out-of-the-blue' to see if I was still around.
We lost track of time, chatting about the wild, romantic times we used to enjoy together.
I couldn't believe it when she asked if I'd be interested in meeting up and rekindling a little of that "old magic"."Wow!" I was flabbergasted.
"I don't know if I could keep pace with you now", I said, "I'm a bit older and balder than when you last saw me. Plus I don't really have the energy I used to have."
She just giggled and said she was sure I would "rise to the challenge".
"Yeah." I said. "Just so long as you don't mind a waistline that's a few inches wider these days! Not to mention my total lack of muscle tone...everything is sagging, my teeth are a bit yellowed and I am developing jowls like a Great Dane!"She laughed and told me to stop being so silly.
She teased me saying that tubby, bald , older men were cute, and she was sure I would still be a great lover.
Anyway, she giggled and said, "I've put on quite a few pounds myself!"
So I told her to fuck off.

Newbie here, so hopefully nobody offended by this one.
Sister Mary entered the Monastery of Silence. The Abbot said, “ sister, this is a silent monastery. You are welcome here as long as you like, but you may not speak until I direct you to do so.”
Sister Mary lived in the monastery for 5 years before the abbot said to her, “ Sister Mary, you have been here for 5 years. You can speak two words.
Sister Mary said, “Hard bed.”
“Im sorry to hear that” the Abbot said, “we’ll get you a better bed.”
After 5 more years, Sister Mary was called by the Abbot. “ You may say another 2 words Sister”.
“ Cold food”, said Sister Mary. The Abbot assured her the food would be better in future.
On her 15th anniversary, the Abbot again called Sister Mary into his office. “ You may say 2 words today”.
“ I quit” said Sister Mary.
“It’s probably for the best” said the Abbot, “ you’ve done fuck all but moan since you’ve been here”.

Great to see someone make a highbrow contribution after all the chatter about The Odyssey!

Probably because I’m a git, I ignore instructions as to how I should dress going to fancy dress or themed parties and just wear what I like. I can put up with any comments about me being a curmudgeon.

@mclaincausey agree that the players do not escape blame, but that method of taking the lead and holding on for dear life has been a running theme in several games, and the coach has done nothing to address it, either in between the games or during the numerous breaks in the game.
We saw similar failings under Southgate, and assumed this was an area Tuchel would help to resolve.
If the tactic is to try not to lose rather than try to win, then eventually you run out of luck.
No complaints, the better team won, just didn’t think England would hand it to them gift wrapped.

@goosehd hopefully that was in the heat of the moment. If he still thinks that in the cold light of day, then he really isn’t the man for the job.

RE: Football (Soccer)posted in Sport
Taking attack minded players off and replacing them with defenders, gave England no out ball and invited pressure.
Between scoring in the 55th minute and Argentina’s second goal in the 92nd minute, England had 12% possession. That is an absolutely damning statistic.
Argentina’s two centre backs were on yellow cards, but rather than keeping the ball and continuing to attack them, England handed the initiative over to them.
Cabo Verde and Egypt both showed how frail Argentina were defensively and scored twice each by attacking them.
Tuchel has much to explain. -
RE: Football (Soccer)posted in Sport
To sit back against a team like Argentina and invite pressure like that was a disaster waiting to happen.

Clearly expecting to win within 90 minutes if it’s only 3litres!

@Tago-Mago again helpful information, and useful about the inseam as I am 195cm.
I was considering them as a 3 season chino as I recently bought the IH747 8oz baker pants for the summer which I love and haven’t taken off since I received them.
Thanks again for your feedback.

@Tago-Mago those photos are more helpful to me than you can imagine, as I was also considering the SJ42CP.
Based on your first impressions, do you have a preference between the two.
Thanks again for your feedback. -

@Nick I remember that Brazil v Italy game so well. Like you, I was absolutely gutted that they lost.
I had a similar feeling seeing Holland lose to West Germany in 1974 ( yes, I’m old) .
Alongside Hungary in 1954 ( no, I’m not that old) the three greatest teams never to win the World Cup.
