IHSB-PR-NAT - Iron Heart x Simmons Bilt Horsehide Western Shirt - The Pale Rider - Natural
-
Damn, this is looking so good!
-
Awesome! Someone ought to take weekly pics of this beauty to capture the patina stages.
-
@Nick Is the new color ivory?
-
@indigostiff It's Natural horsehide leather
-
@indigostiff he's wearing a white t-shirt, if you compare that to the color of the PR, that gives an idea of the color. Does that help?
-
@Nick IH ran a similar overshirt a few years back in ivory. This looks the same, from what I recall.
-
This new material looks so much like chrome tanned leather, it's wild. Doesn't seem to have all the benefits of veg tan (satisfying break in, darkening in high wear areas, accepting conditioner to caramelize the color, etc). As cool as it sounds to have something that's immediately soft and supple, I'm afraid I would lose interest if there's nothing to "work for." Will likely pass on this leather.
-
@indigo_fades You said that well. In short, for me, it lacks the "raw" aesthetic of the prior version. The color, too, lacks the honey-hue of the prior model. And I'm not much for the pebbling either. Just personal preferences here.
-
@Nick What size is he wearing? Thanks

I’m probably in the minority but I love the natural almost white leather. I would love it if it stayed like that. Same as my jeans, I enjoy them most when they are fresh and crisp like new. I’d want them to stay like that forever.
-
@Go-For-Chill sorry for the slow answer here mate - the hide size was a factor on big bucks, but we opted to normalise the seams across all the Simmons Bilt Western shirts so that they are consistent and photos are accurate represenations of all products sold
-
@indigostiff @indigo_fades Completely agree. The change to the back panel (additional seams) also makes me glad I still have an older version, as it pushes the shirt even further in the direction of a "shacket". But it's a matter of personal preference.
Generally, I hope that everyone who has waited so long and been so excited about it will get the shirt in their size! I'm sure the leather's development/patina will be something to enjoy over time. @denim-dawg has definitely shown what's possible.
