    @indigo_fades

I'm a denim and leather lover to the core. I sew and make bags and other soft goods on the side, and also enjoy working with newer tech fabrics as well, as they have their place and can be quite useful. However, nothing beats natural options! I love knowing that something is only getting better as I wear or use it, but I also love the way new denim looks! I have an office job as the COO of a nonprofit working with people coming out of a lifestyle of addiction, and I see myself in many of their faces. I know that anything can get out of hand for anyone and become an addiction - that's why I wanted to be a part of this community, rather than simply a consumer of more and more products. I enjoy IH for the longevity and delayed gratification, and I'd like to model my life around that concept.

    • RE: IRON HEART WAYWT - 2025 EDITION

With all this hurricane weather coming in on the coast, it seems to be cooling off a bit these past couple of days. This is the first morning I've been able to sit on the front porch with the pup for more than 5 minutes without sweating through my clothes. Really looking forward to the fall & winter seasons.

Got my IIY5 pair on, and going into the second month. They are finally starting to feel comfortable. Not IH (Simple & Raw 23oz), but I always make an effort to rock an IH piece up top when I can! Got the IHSH-62-IND Wabash on today over my "office appropriate" button up shirt (Lululemon makes pretty comfortable dress shirt btw). Received 5 compliments on the Wabash within 15 minutes of arrival at work this morning, which is more than any other shirt I've worn to work. 3 people wanted to know what brand it was, and I was almost hesitant to tell them because I don't want them to see the price and assume my salary is much higher than theirs (it isn't). Running a non-profit, I try to be conscious of those types of impressions. Anyway, I'm still very happy with the Wabash and look forward to the day when it's well faded!
Boots are Grant Stone Field Boots, on day 2 of the Patina Thunderdome. Anyone else trying their hand in the Thunderdome?

I went with the Grant Stone Field Boot for the Open Thunderdome. Was looking for a Moc Toe for quite a while that would fit well and work both for casual and office work environments, and that was offered in a 3E width. Turns out these suit all my needs, and even better with the wedge sole for my flat feet. So far, so good!

I'm just seeing this jacket for the first time and holy crap. This is amazing. So sad there is no plan for a restock! I rarely consider buying new when there are second hand options available, but this would be an easy yes.

    • RE: Introduce Yourself Here

My first post on the forum. Been rocking IH for a while, but just recently bought my first new item from the website and decided to join the forum after a couple brief exchanges with Alex. Realized I could probably learn a lot more here than Reddit, where everything is crazy. Glad to be a part.

After wearing 634S-21 as a bridge pair, I feel like I'm missing something every day since I'm wearing a pair made by a different company for IIY5. Trying to make up for it by wearing an IH top every day to make myself feel better 😂 You don't know what you've got 'til it's gone. Time to start prepping for the Redline Rally!

    • RE: Iron Heart Products - What do you think we should make?

I'd love to see more slim fit shirts that are wide enough in the shoulders and chest, but stay slim in the waist and don't flare back out at the opening. That flare is my pet peeve, and it bothers me every time I put on my Wabash. Fingers crossed for shirt tailoring service from IH one day 🤞

Man, what a cool shirt! I was going to get this one today, but the dimensions are just so weird. Super nice looking CPO

@CosmoSix5 Thanks! It's more of a body width/depth thing for me though. I'm trying to get all my Iron Heart shirts altered to fit slimmer because they flare out so much around the waist and bottom opening, front and back. Happens with both the western and work cuts, and it seems the heavier the denim the more it drapes away from the body, especially after going from sitting to standing. I'm currently learning how to sew a flat felled seam so I can do it myself. I've been making bags for a few years, so I figure it shouldn't be too difficult! I appreciate the heads up

    • RE: Tailoring

I had one of my Wabash shirts altered as a test (it's an older black wabash that is a size too large for me) and the results are less than optimal. No felled seams, jacket up gusset, they cut my chain stitch runoff, it's not symmetrical (which wouldn't matter if it wasn't a shirt with straight vertical lines at regular intervals, but it is). I'm going to try my hand at redoing the whole thing, but just in case, if anyone knows a good tailor that is good with IH feel free to let me know. I'd happily mail it to them already marked up for sizing if I'm not successful on my own. I'm just baffled that a "legitimate" shop would hand me back something this rough.

@northsouthdenimguy Yeah definitely a grail piece for me (probably many of us), so I'm curious - how does it feel?

    • RE: Red Wing Shoes

A couple months ago I had some Roughnecks in EE, but they were too narrow. Someone who knows Redwing pretty well suggested that I try the 1907 in EE because it was likely to be wider. Does anyone have any info on whether or not this would be worth a shot? Or if there are any other heritage models that seem to be wider than the typical EE (I wear a 3E usually, but could stretch something that's close enough).
      Edit for typo

@goosehd Unfortunately, none within more than an hours drive from where I live 😔 Lots of wedding dress alteration shops, and not a single one that will do a flat felled seam, chain stitch, or even a proper bar tack. Maybe Railcar will offer shirt alterations someday...
