Does anyone else not *get* chainstitch runoff on shirts?
-
-
Personally I love em
-
Mrs NickD tucks them back into the seam stitching for me.
I like the idea of setting them in resin though.
-
It’s just a fun reminder when you’re buying the shirt of how high quality it is; even in the details nobody will ever see. I wouldn’t over think it too much. As some have mentioned, the shirt is stitched so that you can cut them off, which a lot of folks do. You don’t see many used ones for sale with the run off attached.

I twirl mine around my fingers (like girls in the 90's twirled their bangs) and make solid eye contact with my wife when I'm trying to get her attention.
-
@jordanscollected That gives me a great idea. I might start having the wife hold my chainstitch runoff instead of my out-turned pocket while we are walking in public. “Hold my chainstitch!”
-
@Go-For-Chill “Bikes!!”

Boys oh boys….
But better than „Hold my triple chainstitch giraffe!“ 🫣 -
@RobeOfTheMagi oh my! How much have you collected? I imagine it to look like dryer lint?
-
The professional seamstress that I work with is always telling me she hates the run off. "I want to cut it off every time"!
-
I think I may have weighed in with these but I’m a couple beers in on a flight:
Love em on shirts but don’t miss emI’ve been asked if they were Jewish orthodox tassels (I think the term is tzitzit?), so they stay. That kind of confusion just brightens my day
Overlock stitch runoff on cut and sewn is annoying and gets cut
Thank you for coming to my TED Talk

tzitzit?
Correct
I have a sort of bris ceremony whenever I receive a shirt with them - its officially part of my routine
-
See? No harm whatsoever, ya just cut em if ya don’t want em. If only more preferences were this easy to deal with.
-
@Giles I like it!
-
@CosmoSix5 Personally, I’d be bummed if they not included. They make such fun souvenirs. I keep all the shirts in my memory (dish)…even if I sell them.
-
Every once in a while I click them into my cars seatbelt clicker lol
-
Only got one iron heart shirt (so far!) but one thing I find a bit odd is that the runoff goes down the back seam on the left side but the front one on the right.
