Anyone know what this flight jacket is, and where I can find the specs? It’s definitely Iron Heart, and looks sort of like an L-2B. Was this ever brought over from Japan, Giles ? TIA

eBay FTW, man. It’s a small, and I wasn’t sure it would fit, but now Marcia and I are gonna fight over it [emoji23]

Hi,
What is the most "iron" shirt in IH history?  Reading through lots of post under Shirting area.  Is the IHSH-08/ss/sbg most "iron"?  more iron that the 18oz OD CPO shirts?

If that is the case, I am a bit confused  how can 16oz more iron than 18oz?  there are oz packed in the 18, more dense?

Thank you

The super black is stiffer.

I would also say the 08.

Def the IHSH-08.  It's not always about weight.  10 lbs of steel is a lot tougher than 11 lbs of marshmallows…..

That explanation makes sense for my skull 🙂
Hope IH bring back the "iron" shirt or something close to it in the future

Thank you very much Giles

What I love about that shirt is that it is a non-CPO shirt in a fabric weight that seems to usually go CPO these days. I love CPOs, but a regular shirt but with ridiculous fabric weight is one of the things I love about IH. Think IHSH-64, UHF, etc. It’s less remarkable to have a shacket in a heavy weight.

Think it, be it.

I was wondering, how is the black over dye process different from the indigo black process. The black ODs fade to a sort of washed out grayish blue, while tie IB seem to turn all the way back to blue…how is each applied that they would fade away in such different ways?

@Mizmazzle The way I understand it is that an indigo x black fabric has an indigo dyed warp yarn and a black dyed weft yarn. These two yarns are then woven together on the loom. The over dying process happens after the fabric is already woven together. So in this case I think they take a "regular" blue denim with and indigo warp and a white or off white weft and dip it in a black dye.
