      @Noahf:

One thing i noticed that i thought was super weird, some of the stitching is different color. So like the left pocket and left fly are one yellow/gold color, and the right side of the fly is a different yellow/gold color. Why is that?

Completely normal on properly made jeans, there are in fact about 12 or 13 different yarn types used in the construction. of a single pair of jeans, each selected for the properties needed for a particular function…..

@jordanscollected beautiful evolution. Couple weeks in and softening up nicely for me. Loving this material and trying to practice some self control and hold out for the XHSib restock (whenever that may be) instead of settling for the upcoming release of the 21oz ib… wish me luck w that!

            Great fit, Bren!

Don't forget that 19oz lefties and 21/23oz UHR are in the works. Make sure you leave room for those in the budget.  You don't want to miss out on those!

wow @Bren those look great! How did you size them? they seem to have a slimmer silhouette than mine. I'm 5'11 and 185 and bought size 35 waist. My No Lots are 34's and they still fit larger in the waist than the 888xhs due to the high rise.

Much appreciated @jordanscollected.  It took a lot of trial and error for me to be able to properly translate my measurements.  I’m 5’11 160lbs and went w a tag 30 and have a tag size 31 in the 21oz OD that fits identical.  Up till recently, I was buying at least a tag size too large (as you touched on w your no lot, mostly overlooking how the rise makes a difference on where the jeans sit; on the waist or hips.  So for me, 31.5” waist on 777, 31” on 555 and 30.5 on 888). I have no place in giving you direction going off your IH history and your awesome WAYW posts but for your next 888 purchase, try going in a half inch to an inch tighter on the waist to what your XHS tag 35s are coming in at for a slimmer profile; bet you could pull it off  😎

LOL, no worries!  I don't have any experience with the 19oz lefty denim that I know of (I'm pretty sure I don't own anything with that fabric), but I do have some experience with the 21/23oz UHR, at least the last iteration (I don't know if anything's changed in this round).  The UHR is something amazing.  For me, it was a fast fader and it faded in such a lovely way.

                          Hey Guys,

I’m looking at finally buying a pair of IH’s to go along with my ever growing Denim/Sashiko jacket collection. I’ve worn Naked and Famous Weird Guys for years but the cuts just really don’t work for me. They are tight in the thighs and probably too low a rise for me, because of this I have very limited range of motion in them and tend to blow out crotches quickly.

Because of this, my research has brought me to the 888’s and 634’s. IMO the 888 is probably better suited for me due to a higher rise and roomier thigh.

My problem is sizing. Using IH’s guide my Naked and Famous that are labelled as 34’s are actually a 36 waist. I have a little bit of room in the waist of these jeans currently. The thigh on these ones measures at 12, they are definitely too tight here and I need more room. Throwing a tape around my actual waste I’m roughly 36.5 depending where I measure. I could also probably drop about ten pounds, I won’t be getting any bigger.

So, should I be looking at the 35 or the 36 in this Jean? The 35 waist is 35.3 (smaller than what I currently wear) and the 36 is a 36.4 waist (larger than what I currently wear). Am I better off going smaller and stretching or going bigger and hoping they shrink down a bit? I’d prefer to not have to soak then immediately. What do you guys think? Or should I be looking at a different model or Jean? I liked the 21+ heavyweight stuff.

                          Thanks!

@nrtphotos Hey Nick, I can see that you were emailing Bailey about these jeans.  I have asked the crew to come back to you with the actual measurements of the last pair of tag 36 via email.  If you feel they might be a touch too big, we can continue the conversation from there in terms of looking at different denims and/or the 634 cut.

Yes, Bailey had been quite helpful. I guess I’m just more curious as to the general consensus as to whether it’s better to size down and stretch a bit or have a little extra room. I’ll await the email, thank you!

@nrtphotos my view would be to try and size them comfortably from the offset, not relying on any stretch or shrinkage.  I have gone a bit too small on XHS before with the view of stretching them and it was unpleasant.  Everyone has different thresholds of course but although very rewarding, the 25oz is super tough and stubborn to break in

@nrtphotos I have a recent pair of 888XHS, you have probably seen my photos in the recent pages.

My advice would be to "put in the work" and size down. The thing with the 888 is that it has a higher rise, which makes it tighter across your belly when you size it the same in the waist as a lower rise counterpart.

I have a size 34 in the no lots and the fit great. I bought these in a size 35, knowing that i would need a little room in the waist to account for my body shape. When i got them they were a bit too snug, and my initial thought was that I made a mistake and should have purchased a 36.

However, what i did instead was wear them with the top button undone, and gave my belt and extra notch (you may need to do that anyhow due to the thickness of XHS). This helps to remedy the squeeze you get from tight fitting XHS denim, especially the high rise 888 cut. After 30-40 wears (I did not do an initial soak), they became soft enough to be able to wear all day fully buttoned up and stretched enough in the waist for the perfect fit. It took some work, but I'm glad I didn't purchase a 36 for the initial comfort, as not I have the perfect pair of heavyweight jeans.

full disclosure: i also purchased a $30 denim stretcher to help the process along, and kept the jeans on the stretcher when i wasn't wearing them.

I would do the entire thing over again.
