@Giles sadly, those not to be bothered looking into the magnify glass (located next your freaking account profile) will never read past the first line of a how to. I’m all for indirect shaming however. And while we’re at it, you should be using your fucking turn signals.

@Denimhead-0 I didn’t get a cool eyepatch otherwise I would have posted a shirtless pic

@tody yeah, it happened at work. I poked my eye on a piece of grass/straw when bending down. It felt like something was under my eyelid so I wanted to get it checked. Feeling better today

Where I live people either don’t use their turn signals or even worse have them on and dont turn. Had a friend killed years ago by a driver with his turn signal on who didn’t turn. I just wait until they either pass by,or make the turn.

I feel like everyone who has never sold stuff on a forum should be aware that when someone has commented "DM'd" after the initial listing, it does not mean the item is no longer available.
9 times out of 10 it means that this person has messaged the seller to offer maybe half the listed price. Or a quarter of the listed price. Or a trade for a partially eaten turnip.
But everyone who's never sold stuff on a forum before assumes the person who wrote "DM'd" was genuinely interested, and therefore no one else tries to buy the item and the thread goes cold.
(I have never tried to sell stuff on this forum. This is just par for the course, is all

On Facebook Marketplace,I deliberately build in a haggling price, because that seems to be the game over there. If I want $30 for something,I list it for $40,and when they offer me $20,I say $30,and they think they got me. Everybody wins. I don’t do that here, and even though,I don’t post the Filthy Mike clause, that’s the philosophy I have.

@Giles I just read a fascinating book I mentioned in the Books thread, written by an anthropologist about debt. He spoke to the haggling cultures of some …cultures and it was incredible to read. People do that for fun. I guess I am limited by my own experiences, but it’s hard for me to imagine feeling that way about it.
-
@Giles @mclaincausey Another form of haggling is when people say I have cash.

are you me? I am writing this as I am looking at a stack of folded clothing and a watch box full of surplus I have no use for and no social energy to try and sell..

The first time I went to Thailand with P, we found a great present in one of the markets to take home for @Alex . I asked how much it was and I thought the price very reasonable, so I said yes. The vendor then haggled herself down, because she was either too embarrassed to accept the opening price, or was disappointed that I had taken the fun out of the transaction.
Paula often reminds me about how I was so useless at playing the game, the seller had to do it for me....

The price is the price in my eyes. Only time I'll "make an offer" when a seller literally has that option (eBay) and I only do this if I'm half arsed about wanting to purchase it, if they accept they fuck me dead I pay for it and if not... I don't continue to add £10 hoping they'll change their mind...
Too many tire kickers, if someone lists on a forum or marketplace that should be the price... It's somewhat insulting IMO to say "hey, I know you want X but I really don't think it's worth that..."
It would piss me off to no avail haggling back and forth in foreign countries, but I guess it's just their culture some places

Don't get me started on "tips" in the US...

@Giles I'll need to visit the "Happy Hour" that's hosted some weekends, although I would love to buy you a pint in person!
I will eventually get down to Gosport... I'm up in Scotland. Sadly wont be able to attend Baltimore this year.
