Here's a beach scene from Sea Isle City, NJ. I did in acrylic.

I really like this one. Great work.

Eastern Tiger Swallowtail. I'm usually way more Team Moth than Team Butterfly, but this one was massive and just generally very impressive.

    • RE: Football (Soccer)

I could've understood Tuchel's tactics more if it weren't for the hydration break factor. After the goal at 55', England collapsed into being on the back foot and persistently trying to defend. I can see why Tuchel would look at around 15 minutes of that kind of play and decide to throw them a bone by bolstering the defence. However... The fact is he had the hydration break to drum some sense into them, tell them to keep being positive and pushing up the pitch, and make subs that would have given fresh legs in the right places to drive that forward momentum. So, for me, it was a managerial decision based on the (defunct) premise of not being able to have all your players' undivided attention for a couple of minutes to yell some sense into them and get them all on the same page. Which I get. It's very new for football to have four quarters as opposed to two halves, and managers still have to get used to it. We all saw what a huge change a hydration break could make to a team's playing style when it was effectively used to talk about changing up the tactics.

But anyway. By-and-large, I thought Tuchel did well this tournament. Argentina went into overdrive at just the right time, as is their wont. Honestly amazing we held 'em off until nearly the end of regulation. The team played their bloody socks off. Proud of their efforts.

@Oaktavia I'd say it was maybe around an inch long. I'm big into bugs, but had no idea what the heck it was! Pretty confident it's a firefly larva after a bit of online sleuthing, though.

Gopher snake. Nearly stepped on the feisty little fella! He put on a pretty good show of bluffing like he was venomous. Hissing, flattening his head to look like a rattler, looking ready to strike...

@markus_berlin_ This fit is particularly notable for the untucked T-shirt sticking out from under the zipped jacket somehow making the whole outfit even more sharp. Never in all my years have I seen such a feat! Nice work.

I remember when I was studying Japanese a couple decades ago, there was a whole chapter in the textbook devoted to the language/etiquette of exchanging business cards ("meishi no koukan"). Glad it's still a thing over there.
