IHJ-150-BLK - 20oz Paraffin Coated Duck Chore Jacket - Black
Fall/Winter ’25 introduces a new chore jacket cut to the lineup, blending practicality with contemporary style. This season’s models feature a more versatile pocket layout than previous Iron Heart coveralls, and a slimmer, more flattering silhouette. Key features of this updated cut include flapless chest pockets complete with a pen holder (inspired by our signature work shirts) and large flap-down waist pockets that double as side-entry handwarmers. Each pocket is secured with oversized snap fastenings for quick access, while the main placket uses heavy-duty tack buttons for strength.
This model is not for the faint-hearted, as it’s cut from heavyweight 20oz paraffin-coated Japanese duck canvas. If you’re familiar with our popular 17oz duck, you’ll know exactly what to expect from this weave—it’s stiff, incredibly hard-wearing, and a beast to break in. In fact, due to the tight plain weave and the enhanced durability and water resistance provided by the paraffin wax-soaked coating, we’d argue that this is our toughest fabric to date. However, this also makes it a very stubborn fabric to work with, requiring certain seams to be hand-stitched when the fabric folds are too dense for our machines—or, quite commonly, when an attempt at stitching breaks a needle. This time-consuming construction process means this model is only available in very limited numbers, with each jacket displaying subtle variations in stitching—some even bearing visible scars where a needle fell victim to the heft of the canvas.

This jacket is so awesome. 20oz too?!

Man, I love the look of this chore jacket!
Is this Ironheart 17oz Duck canvas , coated in paraffin to create 20oz Duck?
The same ways the N1 jackets when waxed become a heavier weight fabric?
I love the 17oz Duck CPO shirts, so just trying to imagine how this fabric will wear, fade and mould to the wearer.
Any clues as to when this jacket will go into production? Be great as a fall and spring jacket. -
This one and the non seasonal 21 oz black untucked. Something about them that's really hardcore.
-
I'm also very curious about this one. Is the material similar to the heavier waxed cotton jackets (e.g., Filson tin cloth, etc.)? And does anyone know when this will be released?
-
Still wondering if this is the 17oz duck that becomes heavier when the coating is applied? Or a heavier duck fabric altogether?
-
@gneicher In the drop vid when they introduced it they said its 20oz duck canvas and then with paraffin coating applied on top. I don't think it is 17oz because they also said it was ridiculously hard to construct due to the fabric being so tough.

@Giles
holy hell that thing is looking sweet. I was definitely going to pass on anything else this season but man you've left me wondering now. -
Yeeaa... Will have to try to grab one.
-
@sabergirl lol
-
@sabergirl yeah I get what you mean.
being soaked is better than that cold clammy feeling.And to echo everyone else what a fucking beast!
-
Are these fade resistant or made to fade?
-
I'd love to see some more pics, the wait has seemed interminable on this one. @Freeman can you give us any insights into how it wears and how you see the use case for it? It's beastly obviously.
-
@Oroccoco I'll get some more photos asap.
The first few days of wear, you're definitely fighting it. But after a couple of weeks and creases set you're good. I've had it for 2 month and I can still only get one button fastened. It's a great outer layer for drizzles and I honestly feel like if I was hit by car, the car would be worse off ahaha.
