I have been very happy with my purchase even though I originally wanted the OD.

Might get a better idea under natural light. But you might see the indigo fade a bit here.

Reporting back after having these for about 2 weeks.
I was stressed because they were my first pair of IH jeans. Never had anything this heavy + never had anything with tag size 40 before.
After the initial soak and wash--> perfect fit and they just keep getting better the more I wear them. I absolutely love them more than any other jeans I own.
Measurements were quite close to that of my 38 Freenote Portolas and I can confirm that It was the right thing to do to trust the measurements rather than the tag size alone.
They are a little roomier but not baggy by any means.

One hell of pair of jeans!

DHL Express delivers. It was not love straight out of the box, but just like the Townes I washed it and now I like it a lot. Also roomier than I thought (just like the Townes) and the pockets are too good.

Had to pay a visit to the local retailer just to dial in the fit for this one and ended up leaving with XXXL. After all it fit me much better than SP-Large. Finally.

Went ahead and got XXXL. First I thought that I might have been better off with SP-Large but after almost 2 weeks of non-stop wear It has stopped squeaking and maybe stretched a centimeter or two in some places. Will try to get as much wear before it gets too cold here because this is definitely a ''Wear with a t-shirt'' jacket for me.
Now very happy with my purchase and It's already a favorite after the initial quite brutal break in period.
Happy owner of two IH type 3s now, this and a SP-Large Superblack ( Both serve a purpose ).

edit. 123 feels smoother and softer but it is not a huge difference. Ramblin feels just a little bit more rugged.

Weight is very similar. In my opinion just a bit crispier.

I just turned it inside out and put in a regular 40 celsius wash with a medium spin. Air dry in a hanger.
I did not take any pre or after measurements. I do think the shrinkage for my jacket at least was minimal. What it did is just made it snug up a tiny tiny bit so that it feels like a kickstart to molding to my body ( if that makes any sense ).

Yeah I love it after the wash. Artificial light tho.

I took a risk and got XL in these even though the doublefronts from last season both denim and duck I wear size 38 and was advised not to due to the waist size in these. Mind you I wear a belt with those. These fit great and pretty much the same as my 38 duck double fronts. The waist is slimmer but once I pull them on they stay on very comfortably. With these I feel like I have the perfect 3 shorts rotation.

@mecken88 I actually got in touch with their customer support last night and being anxious about receiving mine sooner I asked to pay extra for DHL Express to get it sooner. The label got created and they were super responsive and helpful. Probably won't actually be picked up until next week though.
But yeah I did that after I noticed the shipping was DHL eCommerce International. I just bought it quickly so didn't pay attention to the shipping options when in fact I was prepared to get the more expensive option. They have great customer service.

I do like the preorders concept SJ has tho. This was different with Ramblin ofc, but having to wait ages for something to be completed makes receiving it more rewarding and better for dopamine and all

Can't wait for my Ramblin. Hasn't shipped yet. Maybe on monday. I just realized they have 4th of July weekend and all across the pond.

Cool. I like googling information about the old military uniforms and then going ahead and explaining to my better half that this Iron Heart is based on this jacket and so on. haha
