      Stupid question potentially but is there a reason behind the fact that the 1955 doesn't have as much of an intricate patch design vs the other cuts like 888, 634, 666 etc? Read the info about the 684 patch which made me wonder.

        The 1955 is basically my take on the Levi's 1955 cut. So the cut is effectively not ours (and as an aside, therefore Haraki hates it 🙂 ) I thought I would keep it simple and just say what it is....

        The 555, 666, 777 and 888 were also initiated by me (but given to Haraki to Iron Heartify, so he loves them 🙂 ), for those, I came up with a Lot Number and then grew a story and imagery around that lot number....

            @CuseMM 1955 is like a 634s with a higher rise and narrower leg opening, fuller through the knee. Pretty similar to 888 with like an inch more rise.

                Thanks all. So I love my 634s but could use more front rise (sometimes feels like low rise jeans) and a bit narrower leg opening. Do I go 888 or 1955?

                  @CuseMM below the knee the 1955 will keep a stronger leg impression than the 888. If you are fitting either of these to your natural waist you should have enough room with your front and back rise but the 1955 will wear slightly more comfortable, at least for me.

                    If you love the 634 and want a tighter hem 1955 is the option.

                      Just scored a pair of these 1955 21oz. First IH cut that really works for me - very stoked on that. Could not be happier with the cut, particularly the front rise and the mild taper. I know the powers that be don’t love this cut…. But what do we have to do to get these made up in 21oz black denim???

                        @jfive67 Million-dollar question! 1955 in SBG would be a game-changer.

                          I think the clearest I can be on the 1955 is as follows:

                          The cut is going to become more core; that is to say, we will make it in more denims over the next few years. That said, just because we decide its core on Monday, does not mean that by Friday we can agree to run it in every denim we also call core - this will take time. Further, we have a limited production capacity for jeans, that is currently at over 100%, so for every new 1955 iteration we want to add to the line, we either have to drop something else from the line, or accept that everything will be further delayed.

                          When it comes to possibly dropping something else to make way for the 1955S-xxx, then what should we drop? The problem is that all our cuts are pretty popular. If we look at total sales of jeans from 2019-2024, the most popular cut in that period accounted for 21.8% of jeans sales. The least popular cut (not inc boot cuts) accounted for 19% of total jeans sales, so it's not like we can safely say "trend is moving to wider pants, lets kill the slim jeans" which is oft suggested helpfully by people on social media.

                          As to a final point on this specific denim, I think its a toss up to be honest on how soon we do it, if we do it. One side of the coin is that the 'vintage tapered' cut probably lends itself to other core fabrics in the line up more than it does to an indigo black denim. The other side of the coin is that the factory that makes 14oz jeans is less busy than the one that makes heavyweight jeans, so it may be slightly easier to do.

                          And to add, the % breakdowns above are just our direct sales, it does not take into account global volume to retailers around the world. For eg, in Thailand and Indonesia, two of out top 10 most sold to wholesale countries, sell massively more 555 than any other cut, so we still have to run the jeans to support them even if we see a decline in popularity in the West

                          Go just a few months back and you’ll find posted and re-posted the intention to run more denims in this cut. We can read the forum while we wait!

                            You guys have a great suggestion, but the reality is there isn’t room in the production lines to make everything we want. The IHUK crew are doing their best to make all of our wants and desires, but the reality is that they can’t.

                            As with everything, never say never…but we may have to wait a while.
