I went so see a fascinating talk by Hideo Kojima (Metal Gear Solid, Death Stranding) and George Miller (Mad Max, Happy Feet) at the Sydney Film Festival a couple of months ago. If you want to catch the re-run, it's now on YouTube.

I couldn't wait to leave undergrad studies behind me to focus on project-focused practical courses. Teaching medical and science undergrads myself during my PhD and post-doc on the other hand was actually quite entertaining. Nothing better than telling an annoying student that they were all there of their own free will and they could leave at any time. They would fail the course, but that's their problem, not mine

@Oaktavia thanks, I loved my time in academia, but I’m not made for it. Progressing along the tenure track means getting further away from actual research and getting stuck in bureaucracy and grant proposals. Not what I enjoy. And that’s before you take the minuscule probability of getting a permanent position into account
