The death of the mechanical bicycle makes me sad.
It’ll never die! Just getting marginalized.

I have two mechanical bikes, one of which is also a fixie so I can brake with my legs. I much prefer hydraulic and especially disc brakes.

Thankfully, we have Liam Gallagher and £3000k tickets to prove it.

What I mean is that Paul is a great composer and and he convinces me with his daily life lyrics. George is obviously the deep mystic soul (my favourite Beatle) and Ringo is Ringo, a great drummer with the right sense. John was the provocateur and for sure also a great composer, especially together with Paul (an incredible unit). My favourite Beatles song is probably 'A Day in Life' which is so nicely divided between the two. But when I listen to John's lyrics after the Beatles, like from 'Imagine', for me it is essentially blah-blah. A bit like his activism.
You'll probably hate me, but that's this threat is for. And I'll take the punishment.
-
I mean, it's hard to compare since Paul had so many more years of personal and professional life for people to critique. But I will say, after watching the Get Back doc, I get why George never said a word. Or, rather, never had a chance to say a word.

I listened to a podcast that talked about how when they weren’t allowed to have non state sanctioned music in China there was an underground movement started by this dude who bought a big mountain of cassette tapes from the US that were meant for recycling. They had all been cut to prevent listened. He painstakingly repaired them and started distributing them. For the first time music was thriving in China except it was all out of the context we take for granted so people didn’t understand that some bands were born of others and music evolved from one sound to the next and so on. No one there really cared about the Beatles. To them there was nothing special about it.

yes, oasis is a great band.
no, they weren't bigger than the Beatles. -

In which case @endo, George Martin is probably your favourite Beatle

Oasis are a terrible band and Britpop was mostly awful. It killed guitar music for the rest of the 90s for me.
-
@endo funny how it seems
I’m assuming you were quoting the start of a Spandeau Ballet song

This is a perfect post for the Unpopular Opinions thread!

Is it? They sold 70 million records.
Definitely a polarized band though. I don’t think liking or disliking them is unpopular.

@mclaincausey Justin Bieber has sold over 150 million records. Radiohead has sold over 30 million records. McDonald's has sold hundreds of billions of burgers. The quantity of units sold doesn't always translate to the quality of the product.
