Out of curiosity since I'm a new guy here; how are you finding, in general, how front and back-rise measurements relate? I see not all brands or vendors list both, usually only one.
not pop, but we've commiserated over this before being in the same camp of needing ~11" minimum in the front and 15.5" minimum in the rear rise.
In general, I'm not sure there is a general rule on how one dimension relates to the other unless both measurements are provided. In some cases, there can be a little, very little imo, give and take between front and rear rises, similar to how a shoulder measurement and a sleeve length can play together, but it's much less forgiving. This will generally change on how the waist sits on your body either angling up/down and how often you'll need to pull your pants up in the back.
I've also found rear rises to stretch with wear pretty reasonably.

Yep @Bobcat-Sig I definitely agree with everything @pechelman said above ^^^ . It wasn't something I paid a lot of attention to for a good long while, because I really didn't understand why it mattered, but in retrospect I do think it has a lot to do with how the top block fits. A lot of times I'd buy a pair of IH that'd fit well in the waist, but the general top block was just too snug and I'd be thinking "I don't get it — why is this happening?" I don't think the rear rise is everything in that equation, but it's definitely part. I'd say like most dimensions, measure a pair of jeans that fit you really well and try to aim for that. The good thing is like Phil said, you can get a bit of stretch out of it.
My girlfriend would definitely agree about butts! lol. I think that probably has a lot to do with why I don't wear skinnier jeans — if I had chicken legs and a smaller ass, I could definitely pull that off a lot easier, but these are the cards I was dealt

I am with you guys also. Don't like taper. I think the 634's in general have the most balanced top block in terms of front and back rise. Another unicorn is the 463 that has a front rise slightly lower than the 634 and a back rise that is higher, works out beautifully.

That helps. Thanks. I sometimes wonder if I over-complicate this as we're talking about garment measurement... and not launching a space shuttle. Still, I work to understand it so I can line my closet with properly fitting denim.
I blame the Viking blood that dominates my half-Scandanavian heritage for needing that big top block and unskinny legs.
-
No two people are alike for sure. I've got no rear end and long skinny legs. Without a snug top and a strong taper, a very visually unappealing silhouette ensues. I tried on Wabash(freenote) pants ONCE. Couldn't put them back fast enough.
I wanted them so bad until putting them on. The sales guy at the store in Columbus was hilarious. "Where do those pants stop? They just keep going"
-
I can't find the 301 information anywhere. What's the type for that? There's a 8301 OD at SE it seems like a 555 with a teeny bit of taper? Same thing?
-
@CosmoSix5 The 301’s are a self edge exclusive cut. Here is a thread for the sexih22-301s
-
When will measurements be posted? Do they go on sale on the 31st online also?
-
@gmk83 they’ll be posted this week prior to the release and yes, as far as I know they’ll be available online simultaneously.
-
@popvulture great thank you
-
@sabergirl yikes. Not for me. Thanks!
-
FWIW, I think Kiya mentioned that this run of 301 will have a higher rise than the usual 301

@kiya
will you post measurements here ?Yes, definitely. We'll post size charts in a few weeks. I've been wearing the 633 for a couple of weeks and love it. We changed both the 633 and 301 slightly from their original forms and gave them both a slightly higher rise.
-
Hope the 301 rise increase is only very slight 🫰
-
All the measurements are up so everyone can stop asking! Those 42s in indigo look perfect for me!
-
Size 36 in the 633. Hopefully they have plenty of stock at SELA for the party!
-
Was really looking forward to these but can’t take a risk unfortunately as the sizing seems off again. I have been a consistent 32” in every IH yet these are coming in at 33”. Are they correct?

fabric looks really nice, pity the tapered look with small hem isn't for me.
