The issue is not the size of the buttons. The button hole sewing machine's pitch is exactly the same pitch as most of our shirting denim, so if the needle goes into the `"gap" made where the warp and weft intercept, the stitch gets no purchase and will pull the button hole constructional thread out of the denim...

Interesting. I’m trying to imagine what that would look like when that problem occurs? What is the severity and frequency of it when this happens? And how do I repair and fix this if I find this on my shirts. I have quite a few IHSH.

-Solid color UHF Western flannels like the Brund one that sold out in like five minutes.
-A waxed cotton canvas Type III jacket or a canvas work jacket.
-Ballcaps (maybe a Poten collab?)

@Boit i think that all the shirts badly affected were recalled, but its before my time, so @Giles can confirm. Since then, we have made various adjustments to prevent this happening, so its no longer an issue

It only affected 12oz denim shirts you cant tell that it will happen (if we could, we could have caught the problem ones in QC). It manifests itself by the buttonhole stitching coming away from the base fabric. It cant be fixed. When we reaslised we had an issue with a production run, we recalled the shirts, but there will definitely be some 12oz denim shirts out there that are vulnerable.

Maybe this has been suggested before, but what about a black version of the 101J-SR with the black 14oz sulfur dyed denim and a dark brown cord collar and a wool blend lining.

Both of these things exist. If you search double front you’ll find all kinds of stuff.

Adding to the work cut CPO (and holding my hands out to be smacked) would it be possible for an XHS CPO??? We know the Type 3 is off limits but thinking it might be possible in that there isn’t as many intricacies as the standard western CPO (no front/back yokes or western chest pockets) 🥺

The issue with 25oz is sewing the sleeves to the body, to thats why we have stopped at vests so far

I thought you did?! I will gladly be wrong! I’ve asked for it in this thread a few times, and it seemed like the production of that denim was spread thin for jeans and jackets.
