Yeah that doesn’t seem like damage, just a “handy” mod.

@jordanscollected this is the repeating damage I get to my jeans as well. I never get crotch blow outs or anything like that. But my pocket bags always start to tear away in the spot you described. And always the right pocket for some reason. Odd. My wife has some sewing skills and has repaired this for me by sewing the pocket bag back into place.

In the easy chair with my boots on, melted whiskey in my hand. Could'na been asleep for more than three hours...time to go to work again...

thanks Gang. I knew immediately that the first comments would be about pocket pool, so I was mentally prepared. I'll reach out to Josh with the pics. Thanks Alex

Hi everyone, excited to be here. Have a question on my 634s: Will this pointy area between the two rear pockets flatten out with wear? They fit perfectly apart from this, but I just wonder if they will start to drape properly with wear and resolve over time?

@endo I've not seen any II's with hand warmers, doesn't mean they aren't out there 🤔

Does anyone have any experience with waxing an N1? I'm thinking of giving my washed indigo a layer of weather protection.
Here's mine after I washed it, the marbling has toned down since then as the fading became more even.

@Nik I found this post quite helpful the other day, but haven't tried it:

Hey Guys. Not jumpin on this as I've already got too many Winter Jackets including another N1 unfortunately, with my work as a Mountain Guide. My main reason for posting is I see a few posts regarding re-waxing.
I've re-waxed many Jackets and Rucksacks etc, over the Years including my other Whipcord N1 and a couple of Heavy Carhartt Bartlett's during my Years in Guiding and I would suggest that a much better way to re-wax than Liquid Belstaff or Barbour is to use the Block Wax by either Fjallraven or Otter Wax. Rub this on by hand until well coated and then melt in with a Heat Gun. 2 Coats will be a plenty which will take a couple of hours max and the finished result will be better than the original in every way. I guarantee you! It's fantastic, easy to do and will provide an improved appearance and performance, even from new!! Best of luck Waxer's. Remember, "Wax On, Wax Off" 😄 Or in this case, "Wax On, Wax In"

                            @M800sct1 Want to chime in?

@Nik I'm eager to see the results if you try waxing the N1. I have some wax/oilskin from Schnee's and I tried waxing a cotton work shirt I have and it took way more wax than i thought it would to get it waxed properly (I never ended up getting it remotely water resistant).

I'll document if I do it. I'm thinking a heat gun is a necessary tool for the job, seems like a hair dryer won't do it alone.

That reminds me of the deers appearing in this video, during waxing a R. Freedom N1-H 😅.

                                  …
I would prefer Fjäll Raven Wax. It´s "lighter" and not as sticky then Babour wax. It´s a piece of beeswax, normally used for a cotton/polyester Mix.

                                  SPRAY:
Granger's XT Waterproofer or Granger's Fabsil Gold (with silicone) works well on cotton.

Best for me: Nikwax Cotton Proof
Not wash it in, spray it on the wet Deck Jacket and let it dry.
Still breathable, not to see and not to smell.

I think we need to have a deeper conversation about this. I received the jacket today and without a doubt I can say that this is not your average paraffin oil / wax coating like in all the examples we have seen so far. Doing it the way we would treat Barbour, Ship john wills, or similar will irreversibly change the jacket look and feel.
Can someone at IH reach out to Japan and ask about the coating origin and how to get it (I suggest having it in IH store).
I want to treat this jacket seriously as it deserves for all the money I paid.
@Alex could You please cast some light on this?

@Nik is asking if anyone has any experience doing it in general to a non-oiled version he already owns, @Karol.

The coating used is detailed in the descriptions of the products, and when we asked about it before we were told that the oil a) did not need to be reapplied and b) was not available for purchase. I can ask again next time I see Haraki in a couple of weeks, but would anticipate a similar answer

I will give You some ammunition for that conversation. I used google translator on the tags attached and it states that the coating will deteriorate with time. Picture coming in a second.

Yeah, how it was explained is that the efficacy of the oil wanes over time, but you can make it regain it by ironing carefully. That is how we have described them in the products that have had this coating to date and have had no feedback to contradict that. I'll bring it up when I see Haraki, as I said, but I am not expecting a different answer from him
