Thought I would just post this for info incase anyone else is struggling with sizing on some OD Denim.

I have possibly about 9 or 10 Iron Heart Shirts in a mixture of either L or XL's and mainly in Western Style due to a fairly slim waist against my Shoulder and Chest Measurements.

As a rule I've tended to buy OD Denim in XL, Regular Indigo in L, Kersey in L, Serge in XL and UHW Flannels in both L & XL dependent on individual dimensions which has worked for me up until now.

My new XL18 OZ OD CPO with 19.5 Shoulders and 23.3 Pit to Pit purchased recently was just a little bigger than all my other Shirts and although I didn't really notice this initially, (and knew that the dimensions of the Large were reasonably significantly smaller and wouldn't have worked for me either) I could definitely feel it after a couple of wears.

Although OD is regarded as completely Pre Shrunk I decided to do a Hot Soak in the bath about 60 degrees for 30 Mins with Woolite Dark Soap Powder to help preserve the Colour.

The result, Well I couldn't be happier. The colour is absolutely Vibrant, and looks brand New and I've almost lost half a Size between the XL and the L, with the Shoulder down to 19 and the Pit to Pit 22.7. The other dimensions have trimmed up in proportion slightly also.

I couldn't be happier. RESULT!!

Hey Guys. Not jumpin on this as I've already got too many Winter Jackets including another N1 unfortunately, with my work as a Mountain Guide. My main reason for posting is I see a few posts regarding re-waxing.
I've re-waxed many Jackets and Rucksacks etc, over the Years including my other Whipcord N1 and a couple of Heavy Carhartt Bartlett's during my Years in Guiding and I would suggest that a much better way to re-wax than Liquid Belstaff or Barbour is to use the Block Wax by either Fjallraven or Otter Wax. Rub this on by hand until well coated and then melt in with a Heat Gun. 2 Coats will be a plenty which will take a couple of hours max and the finished result will be better than the original in every way. I guarantee you! It's fantastic, easy to do and will provide an improved appearance and performance, even from new!! Best of luck Waxer's. Trying to talk myself into actually needing this release as opposed to just wanting it even though I've already managed to purchase more than double figures in Ironheart Shirts in the last 2 years since first getting to know their magnificent products, and don't have really significant fades on any of them yet with trying to keep them all in a reasonable rotation.

I am allowed to purchase when it's really verging on a reckless extravagance.

I've thought about this Type lll Jacket in the Black Split Steer back and forward since Early Summer trying to make up my mind between it and the 19oz Left Hand Twill OD Denim Type lll ( when also still in stock), to complement my 14oz OD Type lll.

When I've finally realised that I live in Scotland and and that we only really get on average 5 days a year which are dry enough to consider wearing the Steer in comfort ( based on this year), with 3 of these possibly being too hot, leaving a grand total of 2 probable days to wear the Steer, and therefore make the decision that a 19oz OD Type lll would be a much better choice, there all gone.

So it looks that I'm on about a 9 Months wait then to snag an XL 19oz OD.

You live and learn.

Don't know that I really want to leave it on the Shelf.

Then it would be, What if, or Should I have!!

Think I'll end up goin with that.

Worth thinking about then.
Maybe get some wear and Patina after 20 years or so.

Probably been noticed already by others, but I've just realised as I keep my eye open for the new drop of the 19 oz Lefty OD, that the description info for the 19 oz Lefty Indigo appears to suggest that this will now be Sanforised.
Am I missing something or is this info awaiting an update.

What difference does the method of OD dying actually make to the Jacket in the long term !?

If its not goin too work will probably just try the 21oz when they come out.

Hi Guys Any Ideas when this Jacket might restock in Size XL.

I had the chance to get one in Feb when it was previously in, but decided then to wait for the 21oz or the 19oz Lefty release.

Though I have the 14oz OD already I think on reflection I just really like the weight of it either for just a T Shirt below or Layering, whereas the more I think about it the 19 oz Lefty and the 21oz are probably just going to be very warm for me to layer with, particularly when I run warm anyway.

Looked back on the thread and saw your postings and comments.
Goin to try the smaller Large as opposed to the XL first I think.
If the other measurements work for me in the Large I may not require to get the sleeves altered whereas the XL would definitely need them altered.
I'm not convinced that I would be able to find someone locally that would make a decent job of shortening the sleeves for me.

Against some sound constructive advice, think I'm goin to try the smaller Large Size first as pretty uncomfortable entrusting someone in my vicinity to make a Professional job of shortening the sleeves on the XL.
It may work for me as I very seldom ever fasten a type3 Denim Jacket and this may be be similar.

How is the sleeves on you, and if I needed to shorten, who could you suggest I use to do this in the Uk and that you know would make a professional job of it. Also the likely cost of this to factor in.
