@spitfiredealer You could always try this: (Picture from @SKT )

This is also an option @spitfiredealer - Don't go rumble around in the garage and pull out the car jack though, you'll most likely end up sending them to us for an actual repair then.

Car jack is awesome trick. Chuck Norris uses it.

Yea, car jack or hat stretcher trick may get you there. Otherwise, I'd say just sell em and buy a size up.

        @Alex:

Ah, I see. To be honest, that is not something I have noticed particularly on any of the shirts I have / do own (sleeves being longer on western than work), but equally I have not studied the charts as I have the luxury of trying everything on!

No worries. Wasn't really an IH question, more of a general "why is this thing the way it is" question.  😃

        Take the dive...

@spitfiredealer  I will recommend this contraption…just not for whipcord which I have found (like those before me) has zero give.  Good luck!

One of the services that Rain at Indigoproof offers is waist expansion, which I think she does by inserting a piece of fabric/denim in the back. While sending your jeans do The US doesn’t seem practical it might be something to consider.

Doesn’t matter I think. I wash mine unbuttoned.

I button the top button every time I take them off, for no particular reason.

I’m thinking buttoned would preserve the dye better.

I’m not sure why.  The only way to preserve the dye is to not wear them.  By its nature the dye is meant to fade.

Dye leaves through agitation and abrasion. Doing the button up won’t change that…

Agitation and abrasion is what is happening in the wash. I would rather that happen to the inside than the outside.
If you wash inside out buttoned, less of the outside is exposed.

I think. I actually have no idea what I’m talking about.

That was why I asked if you washed them inside out…less agitation and abrasion during the wash but....aren't we all try to achieve the perfect fades?  Wearing and washing them is all part of the journey.

Are you trying to keep them from fading?

Abrasion also happens just through wear. That is how jeans fade, primarily. Washing doesn’t actually strip that much indigo.

But if you want the least indigo loss possible then hand washing will always be best.

Although I wash mine inside out, I’m not entirely convinced it does anything.  If you wash them by themselves then the only thing to agitate would be the smooth interior of the machine.  If you wash them inside out then they agitate against themselves which is more abrasive.  They’ll fade far more with wear than with washing.  @swiss-jeansfreak never washes his and I’ve never seen a more faded pair of jeans here or anywhere else.
