If you have time and patience a good thrift store or Goodwill is an excellent place to find high quality pieces at low cost.  I had a perfectly fitting Harris tweed sport jacket that I found for $40.  It was beautiful.

Completely missing the point of the photo, and with apologies to @Giles and @Alex, but that staircase is beautiful!

Portsmouth Registry Office…..It's a beautiful building...

Wow great wedding photo and cool building. That’s around the corner from my office and the studios I teach in but haven’t seen it. Will check it out next week.

I love old buildings.  East cost has so many good ones.  New Mexico, less so.  At least none that aren’t made from adobe.

If you're looking to do the mix and match, find a pair of pants that you already own and would wear (if you've got some) and go from there. Doesn't have to be fancy or dressy, a plain pair of chinos or khakis will get the job done. Then you can just ball out and get a nice blazer to dress it all up. Get something you'll wear again and again. And find a tailor in town that you love.

                Wants List:

                IHSH-254-Grey Kersey, L-XL
                IHSW-45 Black, M
                IH-526SV 21oz type III, 38 or 40
                IH-777S-SB size 32

                    Congrats @Oaktavia !

                    I wore Iron Heart 😃

Blazers and sports coats are great, but I personally find brass buttons (too yacht club) and elbow pads (too professorial) you often find on them to be outdated. I do like unstructured coats for more casual occasions.

I also like the corduroy one you linked.

                    Think it, be it.

Highly recommend that anyone driving distance to London check out this terrific band March 26-27 of next year:

                          https://www.jambase.com/article/billy-strings-tour-dates-london-debut

They'd fall within the Americana classification with a bluegrass/newgrass/progressive bluegrass base, but Billy has a thrash background too (he does a pretty good heavy metal hair whip when his hair is long enough) that occasionally makes it way in among other influences.

Tickets go on sale this Friday.

@mclaincausey I just tried to get tix for both nights, but the pre-sale has sold out. Will be trying again for general admission! He could have played much bigger venues here in the UK!!

@mclaincausey @IH-GARY  I’m a big Billy Strings fan too. Hoping his Austin City Limits show will help him get the exposure he deserves. I’ve never gotten to see him live but have watched a lot of his performances on YouTube. There are some of him and Tommy Emmanuel that will make most guitarists (particularly acoustic players) want to quit.  He is truly special.

Hope you can score some tickets Gary!

You are gonna have a blast @IH-GARY ; every night is a completely different set and they have a catalog of probably now hundreds of covers and originals, it is well worth going to multiple shows when they do a run. They play every note like their lives depend upon it. One of my favorite, if not my favorite, touring bands (and they don't even have–or need--a damn drummer!). They cover everything from Pearl Jam* to Sabbath to old timey traditional songs, and Billy, Other Billy (Failing, on banjo), and Jarrod (Walker, on mandolin) write good original songs too, and somehow they blend these extremely disjointed styles of music seamlessly. I bet you get a "London Calling" debut or some other tribute to the city.

@SKT selfishly, I really loved being able to see them in intimate venues, but I want them to be as big as they want to be. And yes, you definitely need to go see them. If you like the videos, you'll be blown away by the live experience.

I will now stop gushing 😃

*Found a horrorshow video of them decked out as droogs for Halloween two years ago playing "In Hiding"
