Depends upon how well hung you are I guess......
- Sanforized, but unwashed - expect approximately one inch shrinkage in the waist and inseam
- Other dimensions will shrink proportionately to the waist
- The waist will stretch out approximately one inch with wear
- All other dimensions under pressure will have a tendency to stretch back to pre-soak/wash size

there's a sausage and meat ball joke in there somewhere. might have just missed it..

@sabergirl Thanks for making me smile

@sabergirl said in Random questions to which you seek an answer:
I do find that the rear rise stretches for me, because of my ASSets. Front rise not so much.
I can see why @Giles wasnt able to field this one as he has zero personal experience.

I think an inch of rise stretch is unlikely. There’s not as much strain on that axis as the waist, and it’s a felled seam. You could invent some sort of hack like the car jack waist stretching system seen elsewhere on the forum, but rise isn’t a circle so some engineering chops would be necessary.

An inch of shrinkage in the rise sounds a little off to me. It’s possible the measurement could be wrong or done slightly differently than recommended. If all the other measurements are in line I’d have to assume the rise would be fine. I have literally never considered or taken a rose measurement. In my experience if the waist and the thighs are ok than everything else fails into place. But as ever, my word is pure conjecture.

I've never measured the stretch/shrink of my IH pants, but I will say that I do feel like the rise in my jeans gives some with wear. It might be the thigh giving more stretch though, and it is that which allows me to hike a worn-in-and-not-recently-washed pair up a little higher than a new-or-newly-washed pair.

Question: Mrs H is on the hunt for some leather sandals. She's fed up of spending ~£20-30 on cheap sandals on the high street that die after a couple of months of wear in the summer.
Preferably repairable, but if they're hard wearing enough then that's not essential. She almost bought a pair from Jerusalem Sandals (this pair specifically: https://jerusalemsandals.com/products/copy-of-elan-buckle-black?variant=42901686321406) but baulked at the shipping fee, which was almost as much as the sandal itself. She likes having the strap around the back of the ankle, otherwise the OGL crossover flip-flops would have worked. Not essential, but she likes how my pair of OGL flip-flops, in the natural colourway, have developed a unique patina.
Anyone got any recommendations for brands/makers she could check out?

@AdamJ Thanks Adam. She's always felt that the sole of Birkenstocks was too bulky, but I've passed on that link!

@ARNC Cheers mate, they might. I've passed on the links. Thanks for taking the time.
