Can confirm when on horseback and holding/maneuvering the reins, my western duck cpo sleeves work better than other shirts I wear. I like the longer sleeves.

What is the typical default/ sample pattern size for a new cut of jeans? Is it 32 or something else?

Why? It seems like a completely academic question….

What about the 888 is attractive compared with the 633?
@neph93 availability at the time. and even today, I don't think the 888 in 21oz are restocked anywhere. I think the thigh in the 888s and top block in general would work better. Although the 633's have conformed and stretched well to my body over time

I had a tough time deciding between them.
888 has bigger pockets, which is probably not important to most people.
What I found though is if you have a belly that sticks out like I do, the 888 is going to sit too low.

Thanks @Alex, I'll clarify: I know that all IH stuff has longer sleeves for that reason, but my understanding was that western shirts generally - not just IH ones - had longer sleeves than non-western shirts and that this was a design feature of cowboy shirts. For example, my old GAP western chambray shirt that I've kept going for years has sleeves as long as those on my Anny shirt, despite it not being designed for function.

A longer sleeve so that they don't ride up when reaching forward to handle reigns on horseback sounds plausible @jordanscollected. I have also read online that cowboys preferred long sleeves in general to short (as in ending above the elbow length) shirts for sun protection, so I wonder whether going beyond the wrist was to protect the back of the hand from sunburn too?

            Take the dive...

Ah, I see. To be honest, that is not something I have noticed particularly on any of the shirts I have / do own (sleeves being longer on western than work), but equally I have not studied the charts as I have the luxury of trying everything on!

When I do a cuff it always ends up being a little thicker in the back. Is that normal? Is that okay?

I try to fix it but it just goes back to being slightly uneven .

I think you’d have to find a new button first. I’d imagine the articulated ones get busted if you separate the two parts.

Then it would be a case of darning the original hole in order to strengthen the sees for a new hole to be made.

This is all guess work though. @Chesson will probably know.

@spitfiredealer it can be done, you will not gain much though, you might get 1/2" to 3/4". If you think that's all you'll need though, then sure, we can sort something out for you. I would advise sending them to us so we can darn over the existing placement area to put some strength back into that area of the denim if the jeans are quite well worn.

If you want to give it a shot yourself though, we can send you out a spare tack button and pin with your next order. All you really need to change it is; a drill and a 3mm bit to get the head off the old tack button, a 3mm flat punch and a hammer to flatten the new pin in…Alternatively, send them to us and we'll get it done for you.  🙂

This is also an option @spitfiredealer - Don't go rumble around in the garage and pull out the car jack though, you'll most likely end up sending them to us for an actual repair then.

Car jack is awesome trick. Chuck Norris uses it.
