Kira, my wife, is a food and hotel photographer so has unsurprisingly been a little ‘bored’ in the last few months given everything being shut, so I agreed to start cooking our main meal at lunchtime on the weekends so there was still natural light.. it also means I have a chance to rival @Chap ’s plating skills!
Chicken breast, celeriac purée, roast parsnips, black kale, black garlic and chicken sauce.

Looks fantastic - both the food and the photo!

Looks very good Alex and Kira!
Now I’ll just wait for Chap’s next stunner. -
2021 is going to be the year of us finally making our house what we want, so I started by upgrading some kitchen gear.
I don’t use a coffee pot very often, but I will admit the 4 cup feature on the SMEG is a nice touch.
Was really in a lock between the Moccamaster and the WOLF, but happy with my choice as I can splurge on some other goodies I’ve had my eye on..

Today I am cooking Exotic Chick Pie. Essentially it is a chicken curry with a shortcrust pastry top. But the pastry has a fantastic twist, 10% of the flour is replaced by ground rice, and there is a generous spoonful or two of turmeric and ground coriander added to the mix…It transforms the pastry into something other-worldly....

I love all these Indo-Anglican dishes. Even Coronation Chicken has a place in my heart and I adore Kedgeree. I will save that photo for when I’m installed in my new kitchen.
On another note, doing chicken dopiaza later today for the first time in years. I’ll remember to take pics.
