@Giles you can do what you want, sure, then your sponsorship revenue dries up because everyone either skips it or uses an ad filter

-
@Tobi I agree with you. It was a bit slippery.

@Matt In 2013, a Canadian from Winnipeg came here to fish. Now he lives here.

WHY do all these 'smart' TVs have LAG?! I miss the days when you push a button and the thing responds instantaneously. Combine this with the dumbass Search alphabet interface all streaming services now have it is a recipe for rage-yeeting the remote at the screen.

@Matt You're absolutely right my blue friend! It was crucial for me to get familiar with the current meta. I mean, I don't want to look like an numpty in front of junior pupils.

@SKT anyone move all their cooking stuff to an AI at this point? I've had an overall brilliant experience, and not just with the removal of adverts.
-
I have zero interest in technology that is so intent on putting so many out of work. The fact that the tech giants are not even hiding it at this point is even more frightening.

Now on the flip side, I understand that it takes time for new jobs to be created and the workforce to catch up to those changes…but in the interim…

@StarsSuck I have not…my feelings about AI are complicated so it would take a lot for me to make that jump. I could see it being a useful tool for this kind of stuff though

There is no use of AI that will ever entice me to its use. It’s completely unsustainable from an energy standpoint, and is already contributing to the death of human cognition and creativity. I want nothing to do with any of it. That doesn’t make me a curmudgeon, nor does it put me out of touch with reality. I just hope the bubble bursts on this stupid tech before some bad actor does irreparable harm to the earth or humanity, or both.
The founder of Anthropic, Dario Amodei writes a blog, and his recent post shares all of his reservations about the tech, which are horrifying. Chief among them is someone using AI to manufacture a bioweapon.
