Feel like i should have stopped watching that show around the john lithgow days.

Same. If it ended there, it would have went down as the best show ever.

Kid A is the greatest album of all time. Accept that fact. That said, it’s not fair to base your opinion of subsequent albums on what they’re really capable of in Kid A. I like all their albums for what each brings to the table.

Now whatever this Coldplay nonsense I’ll let you guys figure out. I don’t know where to begin debating that.

I'm not sure what "wave" of britpop you would classify the early oughts but there was some objectively great pop music being made ie Travis, Doves etc.

I'm an exponentially bigger Radiohead fan than any of those bands but in their case the last remnants of "pop" was over by the bends imho

That first Doves record was a banger. I saw them with Elbow. There was some good music during that time.

I’d call it post britpop. So stuff like Bloc Party and Kasabian could be neo britpop.

@Matt I’ve tried listening to Kid A so many times and I can’t understand the appeal. I’ll try again, just for you. I really want to like it. I’ve been a lifelong fan of their first three albums, but the later work (with the exception of a few
songs from Rainbows) has never made sense to me. What do you love about it?

@Matt I would just classify them as indie..

a lot of brit bands from that generation I've listened to growing up was sort of classified in that genre

the arctic monkeys, mystery jets, last shadow puppets, the kooks, two door cinema club..etc

Again might be unpopular .....but I would say kid a , sonically and lyrically, is the album that defines the changing of the times and subsequent dystopia for the genx/elder millennials in the same way that dark side of the moon did in its time

@GraemeE Wow. That’s a bold statement. You’ve caught my attention. I’ll give it another listen.

Game of Thrones went downhill quite badly as soon as they ran out of source material. The last season was an entirely new level of bad. Off the top of my head I can’t think of another show with such a drastic drop in quality.

I tried to watch Breaking Bad twice, because everyone kept on saying how amazing it was, gave up both times through a combination of boredom and not actually finding it remotely entertaining.

Like @T4920 , I'm not prepared to put up with shit on the half chance it may get good.

On the subject of TV, I refuse to start any new 'Netflix Original' TV shows until it's all wrapped up and has reached a satisfying conclusion because of their track record of bailing on shit after a couple of seasons.

Nothing worse than really getting into something, then finding out they've scrapped it because it only achieved 85% of it's projected viewership numbers...

@seawolf - I listened to Kid A again this morning, and I’d still take pretty much every other album of theirs (except Amnesiac) over it. I know it’s supposed to genre defining, but I just cannot get into it despite trying for a number of years.

Truer words have not been spoken. Hold the door was the last time we experienced the brilliance of George Martin and it was on its last leg leading up to this.

Also, maybe try giving it a listen as you’re winding down your day. Used to listen to Kid A before going to sleep… so good

@Tago-Mago great point. Rarely stayed awake past “Everything in its Right Place”… rest of the album is trash for all I know
