@Chibs no spin and the length shrunk a tad, maybe 3/4". I was expecting more.

But man I love this shirt!

I hot washed my black sashiko(no spin)machine dried it for about 20 minutes, then hung it until it was mostly dry before finishing it off in the dryer. Sounds like a lot of work, but it shrunk up just right. Sometimes taking the slow route is better than overshooting and wishing you could get some of that shrinkage back.

If that doesn’t get it to where you want it hot wash it no spin and dry it for 40 minutes on high and it’ll shrink up

Edit: actually don’t listen to what I said at least on the temperature I may have just warm washed it. But like I said, I think depending on how much you want to get out of it it may take you a couple different attempts just to get it right

@Chibs i got mine from the new batch and did a room temp soak with a delicate spin dry and it came up about 2 inches in length on the bottom hem and the sleeves and about a half inch in the chest. From there I hung it to fully dry out and it’s perfect in all measurements now.

From what I understand this garment can and should be treated like unsanfordized denim and is really therefore, shrink to fit. Whatever warmth is added to either the soak or the dry will determine your shrinkage. Hopefully that makes sense and isn’t confusing or redundant to the above info

Seems like everyone’s experience is it shrinks way more than the 2.5% in length on the new instruction @Chibs posted. Let us know your results!

As discussed, I washed and dried the Towns last night along with my 21oz modified type 3. Really wanted those sleeves to shrink but I’ll save that for an other thread.

Started by turning the Towns inside out and soaking it in hot water for 2-3 minutes. The water turned yellow. Then transferred it to the washing machine where I ran it for for 38 minutes no spin and second down from the absolute hottest setting.
Once that finished I transferred to the dryer and put it on high (one down from the hottest “sanitize” setting for 20 minutes.

Then took it out and measured. It was still wet so I hung it up.
Fast forward to now, it’s still a bit damp so I moved it outside and hung it on my birch. Not sure if the measurements will get much different once it’s completely dry? But noticed quite a bit of shrinkage where I wanted it the most. 👍🏻👍🏻

I’ll update you guys with numbers once it’s totally dry. All in all, happy I did this so far. I should have done this long ago with my type 3 too!

Wearing a very dry Towns today.
Here are the measurements before wash:
                        Chest - 21.7
                        Shoulders -18
                        Length 31.3
                        Arms 26.4

                        After wash n dry:
                        Chest - 21.4
                        Shoulders - 17.8
                        Length 30
                        Arms - 25

As you can see, length shrunk more than width which was contrary to what SJ projected. I think this worked in my favour. The arm length and overall length was definitely too long for my taste. The Ship John silhouette seems to be longer / skinnier than what I’m used to from Ironheart. I plan on wearing this piece a lot along with all my other shirts 😅. Pretty excited about the prospect of it softening / loosening up as well as Evo.
