Ship John

@Chibs i got mine from the new batch and did a room temp soak with a delicate spin dry and it came up about 2 inches in length on the bottom hem and the sleeves and about a half inch in the chest. From there I hung it to fully dry out and it’s perfect in all measurements now.
From what I understand this garment can and should be treated like unsanfordized denim and is really therefore, shrink to fit. Whatever warmth is added to either the soak or the dry will determine your shrinkage. Hopefully that makes sense and isn’t confusing or redundant to the above info

As discussed, I washed and dried the Towns last night along with my 21oz modified type 3. Really wanted those sleeves to shrink but I’ll save that for an other thread.
Started by turning the Towns inside out and soaking it in hot water for 2-3 minutes. The water turned yellow. Then transferred it to the washing machine where I ran it for for 38 minutes no spin and second down from the absolute hottest setting.
Once that finished I transferred to the dryer and put it on high (one down from the hottest “sanitize” setting for 20 minutes. Then took it out and measured. It was still wet so I hung it up.
Fast forward to now, it’s still a bit damp so I moved it outside and hung it on my birch. Not sure if the measurements will get much different once it’s completely dry? But noticed quite a bit of shrinkage where I wanted it the most.

I’ll update you guys with numbers once it’s totally dry. All in all, happy I did this so far. I should have done this long ago with my type 3 too!

Wearing a very dry Towns today.
Here are the measurements before wash:
Chest - 21.7
Shoulders -18
Length 31.3
Arms 26.4After wash n dry:
Chest - 21.4
Shoulders - 17.8
Length 30
Arms - 25As you can see, length shrunk more than width which was contrary to what SJ projected. I think this worked in my favour. The arm length and overall length was definitely too long for my taste. The Ship John silhouette seems to be longer / skinnier than what I’m used to from Ironheart. I plan on wearing this piece a lot along with all my other shirts
. Pretty excited about the prospect of it softening / loosening up as well as Evo.Edit: here’s a before wash / dry pic:

After wash / dry:

@roydub87 Thank you! I didn’t consider that today when I put on my white T..

@Chibs excellent before and after pics, looking good!

@Brock
Absolutely need this. I love the pocket placement.
Anyone know the usual drop time? Sometimes they schedule the drop and announcer and other times they just go live with no notice. I just forget what time is the most common, like 10 or 11 pst? I need to be refreshing just in case. -
@Brock what a jacket!! I think that ship john has often some of the coolest patina examples.
-
Do they make short and long versions of the Ramblin?
Gotta check the measurements. I thought that theres quite a lot going on with the handwarmer pockets. As long as they sit at the right height I think they are cool. Bitten by the SJ bug.
I was looking forward to the Denim Wills, but Mike showed the sample in one of the livestreams few months back and said that it might take a lot longer after all. That they were experimenting with a heavier denim but it didn't come to be. Don't quote me on that though. I might remember wrong. I dunno if anyone knows any better.
I would try* to get the Ramblin if thats now actually being made. -
@Heritage_Guy he posted that they will announce all of that info well in advance for this drop. Believe it will be a preorder also - CORRECTION - Not a preorder.
