He has nothing against the cut per se, but he does dislike it as an Iron Heart cut, and he has not changed his mind. Everything to do with the 1955 was originally driven by me, and now Alex. The 1955 is being made in a few different denims (all initiated by Alex), and it is highly unlikely they will go on sale in Japan

Fascinating... I'm endlessly entertained by the Japan/UK dynamic. Thank you Giles and Alex for pushing to get this cut a much wider rollout, it's a pretty badass cut!

Yeah that’s pretty interesting. The 1955 is by far one of my favorite cuts from IH

Someone may correct me if i’m wrong, but i feel like the 1955was a fairly slow seller in the early days. Perhaps it will fare better now there’s been a shift in popularity away from very slim styles and towards straight or more roomy cuts.

Correct. @Alex and I tried to kill it a few times when we were attempting to reduce the number of cuts we sell. We reasoned that the 888 cut was so similar, no one would miss the 1955.

So it stayed, and very thankful for that....

@Giles I know that feeling. In a previous job, on the windowsill behind me i kept a "comedy" pair of glasses and small snowglobe. Anyone that moaned about our forecasting skills we referred them to try on our "hindsight glasses" and use the "crystal ball".

I find the hindsight glasses were used much more. Everyone's quick to have an opinion of what you SHOULD have done.

@RocknRoll My thoughts exactly. Skinny jeans are out. Trends come and go, but fashion always centers back to the classic silhouettes and comfortable fits. So glad we’re back!

This might be a weird question, but ive been trying to get to the bottom of why my indigo 1955 dont feel as comfortable as my overdyed pair despite similar levels of break-in. I always feel like the seat of my pants isn't quite on my butt in the indigos, and my phone and wallet (which I keep in my back pockets) always catch when I move.

So I did what any psycho would do. I took a tape measure to every part of each and they're within 1/8" across the board EXCEPT in where the back pockets sit.

On the overdyes they're 0.5" higher: 5.5" from the inside corner to the top of the waistband, and 11.5 from the bottom of the pocket.

The indigo measure 6" and 12" respectively. Its just lower enough that part of whatever is in my back pocket sits on my hamstring and not my glute.

Now normally Id chalk this up to tolerances, but I have 2 pair of each (with how rare restocks are, and with this being the only cut that works for me, I keep an eye out for gently used pairs and have managed to snag a backup of both). And they exhibit the same discrepancy: both overdye pockets sit about 0.5" higher.

So I guess my question is if this is a result of the overdying process shrinking them vertically? A different pattern (tho that seems unlikely)? Or just weird luck of the draw?

@KA56 With OD I noticed the fabric shrinks in all aspects so I would point the finger at that honestly.

Maybe this is why I bought so many pairs of the 1955's
