IHSH-443-IND - 7oz Cotton Linen Chambray Work Shirt - Indigo

After the warm soak and hang dry, I feel like it tightened up just a bit. I just don’t recall the exact measurements before. I do have the feeling though if I threw it in the dryer it would’ve shrunk up more. It just kind of has that feel to it, but I could be wrong. I don’t know…
It does feel slightly more fitted now. Sleeves are still long, but they shrunk up just a bit.
Overall, I really like the fit, so I don’t need to do much to it. It’d just be nice to figure out if this is one I can machine wash and throw in the dryer without it ending up fitting like a baby tee afterward.
Also worth noting, I iron everything after it’s hang dried or even machine dried, so things tend to flatten back out a bit. This one was super crunchy and wrinkled before pressing.

After a few wears, washed mine for the first time today. As I really liked the fit , was a bit wary reading about some having shrinkage.
30 C delicate wash (shortest cycle I have) with the minimal spin. Drying on hanger.
Pre wash:
Shoulder 43
Length 71
Chest 52
Waist 49
Opening 50
Sleeve 62Post Wash:
Shoulder 43
Length 70
Chest 51.5
Waist 48.5
Opening 50
Sleeve 61.5Admittedly I did ‘stretch’ it out when damp, (especially the sleeves as length was just right but wouldn’t want to be any shorter), both to get rid of the wrinkles and make ironing easier and to retain the dimensions.

@northsouthdenimguy do you use a cool iron or ‘normal’ cotton setting?
-
I always have it on the hottest setting(cotton/linen)with continuous steam, note this is a relatively inexpensive “Hamilton Beach” iron.
I used to have one of these back in the day, late 2000s early 2010’s? I wore it out…I was an ironing machine!

-
@northsouthdenimguy since being on this forum, I have been taken down rabbit holes with boots (ending up with a pair of Viberg services boots), shirts, jackets. Didn’t expect to be going down one with fancy stem irons I must admit!

@Cymro Thanks for sharing this information. Mine is due to arrive this week so good to know what to expect after a fit check

Will try to get a better photo of when I’m not wearing it but I’m currently sitting at 20 wears. The creasing in the arms likely from the linen is getting very interesting. Fading should take a unique pattern. Also notice while not perfect the extra creasing has brought up the sleeves to a closer expected range.

@phoenixinflight yes that is exactly what I do or just dry my hands on them it works like a charm

Do you find this leaves any indigo on your hands? I tried the drying my hands on the sleeves, but my hands always felt just a little less clean after. I know that getting denim wet can make it transfer a little more, but I'm not sure if it's that or just all in my head.
-
@Go-For-Chill Not that I have noticed...
-
Washed mine for the first time on cold and low spin. No dryer, all air. Def tightened up but not a ton. Sleeves after wash plus all the wears have brought them to a very appropriate length. Feels like I’m noticing more white specs on the shirt likely from the indigo wearing off a bit. This shirt is likely to fade fast.
-
@jfk1117 I also gave my a wash (but on warm) to encourage the shrinkage people have been discussing. Definitely noticed more of the linen nep showing afterwards and chucked it on a bit damp to encourage some creases in the arms. Can't wait to see how mine and others here ages! Unfortunately it's getting a bit cold for this piece here in Australia, so will likely be on ice until Spring rolls around.

First post here. Absolutely love this shirt, buttoned or unbuttoned; it looks fantastic. The way the sunlight hits the indigo is impressive. Thank you, Iron Heart

I can see that this thing is going to get worn a lot this summer.

-
After reading this whole post and trying to hold out in hopes my size would sell out, I finally gave in and have a xxl on the way. Hoping this will be a perfect summer shirt for me in the hot Texas summers. Looking at most likely making it a work shirt every now and then and my main shirt on the weekends.

@Ral1121 You did the right thing!

@will6er maybe but my bank account may disagree lol
-
@Chibs popped collar video review on it??

@Cymro Potentially?! Hehe
