Agree with all of the above and would wait until they are dry before wearing.

I washed mine with the intention of wearing them while they dried, shrink-to-fit style. After I took them out of the washer I could barely turn them right-side-to. It was like wrestling a firehose. I abandoned any thought of attempting to put them on while wet. But you should go ahead and try it! It'll be a long time before you get a second chance at a new pair of 25 oz jeans!

@moskiitto I put my email in for notifications when it was back in stock, I thought that I was gonna wait a year. But maybe someone returned theirs. Anyway, really looking forward to the first 25oz experience.

          @Tago-Mago @yannis @goosehd,
Thank you for that, I’m actually worried I will mess something up. This thread have been very helpful

You guys are killin’ me! This convo and fade pics were too much …

Just pulled the trigger on the last pair of W35s they had at Black Blue. Might be too tight (or just right!) in the waist but I had to give em a try …

I kept telling myself my next pair should be 14s for summer … 🙄

right the knees will look like parachutes if they are worn wet. They can get all stretched out.

1st pair of 25oz and first pair of ib's - trying not to over think the process but can't help it.

My understanding is let soak (inside out?) in warmish water for 45 min - hour. or hotish water if I want to maximize shrinkage.

Turn right side in then let dry completely then just wear the heck of of them.

Does this seem right? Any tips greatly appreciated. Thanks all!

edit - I have multiple pair of 21oz and have not been through the pre wear soak process.

@jglatz You also need to agitate them in the water…just placing them in the water will not get the maximum shrinkage.

Edit: This is a quote of why you need to agitate from @Giles ”shrinkage is caused by the tensions that have built up in the spinning and weaving process that are then released when the fabric is lubricated and agitated.”

@goosehd thank you! anything else I should be aware of? I am planning to do this soon but keep putting it off because I fear I will mess something up 🙂 Want to get a few wears in before it gets too warm

edit: is inside out the best way?

@jglatz I always do hot water with agitation, inside out, and drip dry.

I had a little knee bag situation when I started wearing them ( I sized up a little ), but they seem to have now almost completely dissapeared with wear and the jeans drape nicely.

Picked my pair up today, now they are drying hanging in a perfect spot. I had some room
In the waist so went with ”warmish” soak to get as much skrinkage as possible without washing them.

I did this: soak inside-out, turned them around for drying. No clue if that’s the ”correct way” but it seemed logical to me.

It is clear to me that this was a returned pair from another customer, see pic. Didn’t want to disclose his name but wanted to ask if it’s common that they keep the card or just a mistake? I guess it was a mistake, the previous buyer should feel confident that the card is now gone.

Interesting however that the measurements in waist is a little of. I don’t mind at all, just an observation.

                                Have a good one!IMG_7126.jpeg

@Sunnergren. Probably a mistake. After the soak you should of put them in the washing machine with no spin cycle and then dry so you can get all the shrinkage out. They may still have some shrinkage left

@Sunnergren After soaking I washed at 30°C 600 rpm before drying. I babied my denim in the beginning but figured that tough workwear that was built to last should probably survive a reasonably gentle wash in a machine

@Sunnergren funny you bring up measurements being off. I hemmed mine to 34.5” and after measuring over and over again I’m certain that it’s shorter. I was thinking maybe since the denim is so thick and brand new, I may not be accounting for something?

I’m not entirely certain. But pulling the leg all the way to the side and measuring the IH way is not giving me a 34.5” measurement.

Edit: not bashing anyone, just thought to bring it up since it was somewhat brought up already.

I’ve stopped hemming my jeans. After years of trial and error I find that my pairs often shorten up a bit the more wear they get. I cuff them in the beginning and eventually find myself letting out the cuff. Mileage will definitely vary. I’m pretty tall already, but I’ve found taking the guesswork out of it works best for me.
