I’m never very up to date with films but I finally got round to watching Godland (Volaða land / Vanskabte Land) and I imagine it would go down well in these parts. It’s slow and bleak and beautiful. Not sure if I want to visit Iceland after watching it but the cinematography is stunning.

For UK people it’s currently available on iPlayer.

Marty Supreme is complete chaos and maybe the movie of the year.

Eddington is not to be missed. That and Sinners are my top two on the year so far.

Don’t get the hype on One Battle After Another. It was entertaining, but the cringy caricatures actually were too over the top for me.

I think in 2026 I want to at least watch one movie a week... I often just read books and don't watch anything, I swear I said this last year too but maybe next year I'll do it. I can't even name a single movie I've watched this year, I sometimes put something on in the background but end up doing other stuff

I haven't seen many new movies this year, but The Ballad of Wallis Island is easily my pick for #1 of 2025. Funny but with a definite heart. Sucks you right in from the very start and does not let go. Lots of excellent lines that you just want to commit to memory to whip out at any appropriate moment à la Dumb & Dumber or Pulp Fiction.

Last year's fav film was Perfect Days, if that gives any indication of my taste.

Mrs E and I rewatched The Deer Hunter tonight. Such a masterpiece.

Then just rewatch the wedding scene @Jett129 that alone is worth it. People often think about the Russian roulette, but the portrayal of this poor, squalid life in 1960s Pennsylvania is even more impressive. Like when the survivors come together at the end to sing "God Bless America."

Another masterpiece, and the first time I watched the 3h version. Didn't know they are stealing Kilgore's board.

I love the scene with the French colonialists in the extended version. The meal is such a surreal juxtaposition in an already surreal movie,

                                    Settle down easy......
