@goosehd I’d recommend doing it sooner rather than later as we are getting older and the mountains aren’t getting any smaller. I’m told today was the toughest day on the trail and it gets more gradual from now on. Today definitely pushed me out of my comfort zone …

The chore coat is a little longer so probably not the best pairing.
I might try it later with one of the lightweight N-1s just to check the length, but for now I’m wearing the Pale Rider and trying to get some miles on it. I thought about throwing the chore coat over it, but I’d probably end up looking like I did as a kid in Minnesota trying to jam on three winter coats, arms stuck halfway in, flailing around just trying to get them on or off.
Edit: The chore coat didn’t fit over the Pale Rider, mainly because I sized down for a more fitted silhouette. Also, it’s probably a bit of a faux pas to layer a workwear piece over a western jacket, though I’m not sure how everyone feels about mixing those styles
