Thanks for getting in touch. A hot soak may shrink the thighs and seat temporarily but with wear you can expect them to stretch back out.

Your best option is likely to find a size 40 pair with a naturally larger waist measurement, since the leg and seat fit in that size seems to work for your body. Alternatively, you could try a 633 or 666 cut in size 42. These are slimmer through the thigh and leg than the 634, so they may give you the waist room you need without all the extra fabric below. Just make sure the thigh and seat measurements still work for you so you don’t run into the same wear issues you had with the overdyes.

        I hope this helps!

          Hi everyone, noob question:

These 25oz jeans look incredible. I noticed in the description that they’re expected to shrink by around an inch in the waist and inseam after the first wash. I was wondering — do most people wear them as they come, or do they wash them first to get shrinkage out of the way?

Also, if they are washed prior to wearing, does that accelerate the rate at which they fade?

I wear them for a few days just to loosen up the button holes, then soak them for an hour in the tub.

@Damocles I soaked m for an hour and worn m when they were dry again. There are some tricks to loosen up the buttonholes, look around here and you’ll find tons of m.

The shrink in the waist will stretch back out in o time. And they get comfy quick enough.

If I’m correct the soak/wash is also advised to set the stitching a bit. Don’t know if it accelerates the fading. That just takes time I guess 😉

              Enjoy!

                It does not

Ah, perfect — since the fading isn’t accelerated, I’ll give them an initial wash or soak to set the stitching and take care of the initial inseam shrinkage. Is there a significant difference between running a gentle wash cycle with low spin and simply soaking them?

Finally, do you have any recommendations for caring for the leather patch on the back (the one showing the cut and size) during the first wash? I’d like to avoid it creasing or warping awkwardly 🙏🏻

@Damocles there are some tricks, putting oil on it, keeping it out of the water.. Look around and use the search and you’ll find a lot of tips and tricks, like this or this. I use mink oil from Redwing, darkens it a bit, but seems to do the trick.

Hello to all fellow IH forum brothers/sisters. I am wearing my 25oz 634s for the past 2 months for indigo invitational and I have been pretty much wearing them for doing anything like walking and cycling, to work and for daily use.

I only notice just now that the crotch area seam threads (the image I attached) seems to be a bit loose, and the fabric around it is fraying a little too. Is this early sign of crotch blowout?

Should I send it to my denim repair guy to repair/ reinforce the area? Or is it like a normal thing to happen for these heavy ounces pair?

I’m sorry if this is a newbie question. It’s my first really heavy (and raw) pair of jeans that I own.

Any advices would be really appreciated. Thanks guys.

Edit: I did an initial 1 hour soak in cold water while wearing them in a tub before I officially start wearing them.

@Jellyfish_3699 I think you will be alright for now, its a high abrasive area especially if your cycling in them, its the bane of denim as it cause more friction and strain on them, but you still have some good wear there, if it does get a lot worse give me an email via shop@ironheart.co.uk and we can talk more about repairs but for now I think your okay to keep wearing them and thrashing them.
