not sure if that counts as shitty

I meant shitty in terms of desirability, not form or function. For the record, I have nothing against the watches, just the company 🙂

There is no question that Rolex manufacturers scarcity in their distribution model, and of course that is almost certainly intentional. It's one way they maintain prestige that is outsized to the intrinsic value of the products. I think this distribution model also offers something similar to what ticket brokerages like Ticketmaster offer artists in being the "bad guy" who takes all the heat from frustrated customers or wannabe customers. And while they don't officially embrace the gray market, it helps them too: a buffer in the event of low demand, and a source of pricing and market value signals (e.g., if they see aftermarket prices collapse on certain models, in theory that could inform manufacturing, promotion, pricing, and distribution strategies and decisions.

I do admire their vertical integration and what that does for quality at scale from a manufacturing perspective, and now they are extending verticality into distribution by buying Bucherer.

This is such a change from the AD model and seems to at least potentially undermine the ADs, while also via the CPO program undermining the gray market. In one fell swoop the two major distribution channels I am aware of are disempowered and made vulnerable.

Pick your asshole, I guess, if you want to buy one 😂

          Think it, be it.

@sabergirl I do look pretty rough round the edges. I definitely don’t look like the type of person who could afford such a thing, so there’s maybe that.
The solar seiko on my wrist may of been a red flag too. I’m not sure, that was 2 years ago. I’m not sure where the current market is and I was attempting to buy when demand was high or what.
I’m not really a watch bloke.
I just a lover of high quality anything and everything. In Singapore I was told that they only sell to Singapore Nationals
            Perth was told I was a flipper/scalper,
Bangkok that they didn’t have anything in stoc
Queenstown in New Zealand that it’s exhibition stock only.
One thing i do like Omega, the average person doesn’t know what an Omega is and those that do know never ask if it’s real or not.
That being said I’d still love a Rolex but I’ll never beg someone to take my money and I will not buy grey market.

Anyway, my next 2 watches will be a Sinn and a Grand Seiko

I can’t imagine an AD would sit on stock and not sell inventory? I’m not a grey market guy either unless it’s a discount from retail. I bought a Sub 25 years ago. Walked into the AD and wore the watch out of the store. No games. I did go back to the same AD a few months ago and got on the list for a gmt. No interest in buying another watch, but wanted to see if I ever get the option to buy.

                @Sage954 apparently it’s a thing though.

Couldn’t make it past about five minutes of that vid @Aussie-Ben . Seems there’s other reasons that world isn’t for me besides not having money 😂.

Quite excited to be collecting this today, though then have the lengthy wait until Feb 26 to wear it on my wedding day
