IH-1955S - 21oz Selvedge Denim "1955" Vintage Tapered Cut Jeans - Indigo

@Go-For-Chill It could be sixty?
They only restocked in March. I’m going to wash them now to send in for repairs, so let’s see what they look like when they’re clean.
-
@Mister_Brue did you size them loose? I blew out the crotch on my 16oz slubs in less than 50 wears too but started to realise I’d sized them a bit too big. I went with a 36 waist on them for comfort and have since been wearing 34 and starting with them tight and going for a 1.5 inch stretch. Think with the 16oz slubs I must have had an excess of fabric in the excuse my French “bollocks” area creating some friction
-
@Mister_Brue I am super curious what they would look like after a wash. Is some of they light greying from dust/dirt via your jobsites?
-
@Oaktavia Oh, 100%! I’ve washed them now, so I will take some more snaps when I can after the weekend.
-
@Mister_Brue cool
-
@DeeDee85 I size most of my jeans pretty loose, especially if wearing them for work. I need the freedom of movement, and it is my preference anyway.
-
@Mister_Brue definitely understand that, there’s no way I could wear my 555’s for work. Just thought it worth pointing out that the only time I’d gone for a loose ish fit I had a similar issue. I’m getting to around 150-200 wears in a size 34 before getting close to crotch blowouts and 50-60 when I went with a 36.
-
@DeeDee85 I’m screwed then.
-
@Oaktavia Post wash pictures. Not the best light, but it turns out there are some fades under the dust. Loving this 21oz for working in.
-
@Mister_Brue my lord they are glorious
-
@Mister_Brue Wow! These look great
Hard to fathom this is 58 days of wear. I doubt I could get there in 580 days. That's handcraft for you. (Currently I'm a student (again), so a whole lot of reading these days, which is easy on the denim).Really looking forward to seeing your progress in the upcoming Indigo Invitational! Did you already decide on a pair?
-
@Mister_Brue What sort of work do you do to get these fades in such a short amount of time?!
-
@Oaktavia @JunkPants Yes, they’ve pleasantly surprised me. I’m looking at the 822’s for IIV. Maybe the knees will last six months?
@m4xime I’m a stonemason.

The 822s are probably your best bet. Though I kind of doubt they'll last a full year. Someone should convince Haraki to make som triple knee jeans for you.
(And I think I have to reassess the pair you wore in the last II, I don't think any pair of jeans would have survived)
-
@JunkPants I think I’ll take a different approach to repairs next time around, as with the 1955’s above.
Triple knees though; there’s an idea!

Here's 1955 and 888 to compare. Thought folks would think this is interesting. Posted it in another thread, but figured it fit here too...
Tried to make the pics as similar as possible. Size 32 1955 21oz indigo vs Size 33 888 21oz indigo; both are hemmed to 30". Very similar fit, but 888 narrows at the knee, which changes the shape of the entire leg. 1955 is like a big tube leg (unless you size down, to get a slimmer look). If both were size 33, the difference in appearance would be substantial, as compared to this, which is more subtle. In my assessment overall, though the measurements between 1955 and 888 look close on paper, the 888 has less volume than 1955 in virtually every proportion of the entire jean. I think a size 31 1955 and this size 33 888 would fit me almost the same tbh. Lemme know what you think of this comparison. Many of you probably have more experience with both these cuts than I.
