SEXIH25-CPO - Self Edge x Iron Heart 19oz Denim CPO Shirt
-
Not enough video game nerds in here lol. I've been grabbing consoles, games and watching movies at midnight for decades. I do appreciate the time change though. Staying up till 3am was a gamble
-
@kiya
now I have to set an alarm early on a weekend...
-
-
@kiya greatly appreciate the time change to noon EST rather than the original 3 am EST

Soooo, how about the denim? From the photos it looks like 18oz vintage with more slub and even more cross hatching. Maybe a bit more weft showing on the face.
I asked Farbodd (SEPDX) about this today and he confirms that it’s like the 18oz V w/ more character/slub…but not as pronounced as the 16oz Slub). Sounds fantastic to me

I’ve got a first world dilemma I’d like some feedback on. I’m planning on getting the indigo 633 for upcoming Indigo invitational. I don’t have any CPO’s, so I’m getting one from this collection; heavily leaning towards the indigo. I’d also like to get the Type 3, but I currently have the SLBOD Type 3.
My dilemma is which should be my third piece? I’d like to get one OD piece from this collection. The OD Type 3 is out since it would be too much overlap with my current SLBOD. I don’t want to enter the indigo invitational with an OD piece. This will be my first CPO, so that’s the reason why I’m leaning towards the indigo.
My thought process for the third piece is:
- Do I get the OD CPO and keep it on ice for a bit, and wear after I’ve broken in the indigo CPO?
- Do I get the OD 633 as a bridge/non-competition pair?
- Do I get the indigo Type 3 since I don’t have a non-OD Type 3?
Bonus: Do I just get the indigo 633 and indigo CPO, and hold off for something else down the line?
Sorry for the long winded comment. I’d appreciate any feedback!

@caithangkhanh
I think the OD CPO will be a killer piece. Dependant on the rest of your wardrobe and what else you may have your eye on, I would get either:-
633 IND, CPO OD, T3 IND
-
633 IND, CPO OD, CPO IND
-
633 IND, 633 OD, CPO OD.
-
-
@caithangkhanh totally get wanting to grab some of this denim but give it a good think over if you really want multiple pieces of 1 type of denim while still building a rotation
-
@flannel-slut that part!!
-
@flannel-slut I guess I'm gonna go for the cocktail waitress denim then
-
@flannel-slut “Let me put this is terms you (denimheads) can understand…”

Ugh...I was ready to pass on this whole collab but the indigo CPO is calling me...Despite owning 4 IH CPOs, I don't have one in indigo. I have been waiting on the eventual restock of the 409-IB, but this is different enough to justify both (at least in my sick mind). The fabric on this one is what is tempting me the most. It looks like a more extreme version of the 18 oz vintage denim (which I absolutely love).
Sorry, just thinking out loud here but I can't tell yet if I am trying to talk myself into or out of buying this.
-
I'd love to get into my first iron heart CPO.. but with a baby on the way, looks like I'll have to miss this drop and settle for a 292 one day later
-
@Mister_Brue I appreicate the feedback. I think you might’ve swayed me towards the OD CPO. I guess it’ll be a game time decision once I see it at the release party.
@flannel-slut thanks for being the voice of reason. I’ll stick with the indigo 633 and OD CPO. I’ll hold off for something else down the road. I’m currently eyeing that IB CPO, but there’s no timeframe on when it’ll be returning.

The OD is reactive dyed black. Glad that was pointed out on the FB group.
-
@CosmoSix5 AFAIK, this is “direct dyed”…which replaces the sulphur dye method (that isn’t eco friendly)…and is something different than the “reactive dye” method used to create colorfastness in some of IH offerings.
-
@Boit SE specifically calls it reactive dyed on their site. Garment Dyed Black (reactive dyed)
-
@CosmoSix5 Good observation. I recall seeing some conflicting statements on the SE pages in past releases. I wonder if this is true as IHUK talked previously about these being "direct dyed"...maybe @kiya or @ShopatIronHeart can verify this for us?
-
This has been discussed on these threads already, as pointed out
@SamD said in Self Edge x Iron Heart SEXIH25 Release Party - Los Angeles:
@Mizmazzle As @alex mentioned, we’re hoping to expand our buying guides and blog posts as we continue to develop the new site — and a deep dive into our overdyeing processes is already on the list!
To summarise for now, the switch to a direct dye wasn’t made to intentionally alter the appearance of the denim or how it fades, but rather as an eco-conscious move to reduce our use of more hazardous sulphur dyes. As far as we’re aware, the actual garment dyeing process is very similar, meaning it still removes all potential shrinkage.
Unfortunately, we haven’t been using the new technique long enough to see conclusive fade results, but Haraki-san has advised that the direct dye will be a little more colourfast. Here’s a comparison, with the 21oz direct overdyed denim at the top and the 14oz sulphur-dyed at the bottom:
As you can see, the direct dye will definitely still fade (as it’s already showing variations in tone), but the main difference is how it affects the hardware. The sulphur dye oxidises and tarnishes the rivets and tack button, whereas with the direct dye, the metal remains shiny and new. Hope that's helpful!
