@Jett129 it’s now getting to be that way in college football too, for different reasons. I think the transfer portal seems to have resulted in more parity and anything can happen. I feel like it is purer in many ways than the NFL, including the influence of officiating, though.

Doesn't the NFL have some strange legal side-steps with how they refer to their athletes? To negate bans for drug abuse etc. If they're down as an entertainment business too, then that's truly leaning into the WWE framework.

I'm not aware of this. They definitely have a performance enhancing substance policy which is worded that way to specifically open it up beyond illegal drugs. I'm not on board with the NFL rigging conspiracy theories, I just think the rules are too heavily reliant on in person officiating on the field when there are so many different camera angles to take advantage of. I understand that seeing the the game while its moving from the field perspective leads to a lot of missed calls and I understand how excessive calls result from the league emphasizing certain actions. It's a lot easier to spot a foul from above after you've seen the replay 5 times. @mclaincausey likes to wear his IHC-TF (tin foil).

We’re in perma grey, rainy, damp, cold, gloomy,….probably get the jist. This was easier to tolerate when I was younger.
I’ve put on a fire and sitting by it now, contemplating if it’s too early for a glass of port and/or cognac. Then again, a scotch sounds good as well. It’s only 9:45 am…

Just got through the first cyclone bomb and was without power for almost 40 hours. Still no home internet, but have sketchy cell phone service. The second one is supposed to hit this afternoon with rain and high winds. Can’t go to work so the weekend starts early.

@Denman-John Stay safe and best of luck! I keep the generator and chainsaws fuelled and ready this time of year. Have had to cut myself and neighbors out of our private laneway numerous times over the years.

@Matt I mean is it really hard to believe that the gambling industry would interfere with professional sports? It’s not like there isn’t precedent and plenty of motivation.
It’s also not hard to believe that conscious and unconscious bias influence how things are perceived and acted on, and impossible to believe that officials would somehow be immune from that.
