Can someone please explain the purpose/benefit of an over dyed fabric/flannel? Why is desirable, or undesirable? I've never owned one before. Thanks in advance.

@stichdown-shell Overdying has traditionally done with indigo denim jeans and shirts. It gives you a unique color of denim that's different than a normal black and it adds another color to the fading process. Black -> dark blue -> light blue -> white.

For the flannels, the black should fade to a lighter color and slowly reveal the original design hidden underneath.

One benefit is that since overdying is done with a hot liquid, it removes all the shrinkage.

A disadvantage is the environmental impact. This depends on the specific dye that is used and how it's disposed. I don't know enough about either of these to be a judge of exactly harmful it is.

@DrPat Thanks so much for making the effort and tracking this down. As much as I liked the shirt the one thing that made it a No Brainer,for me, was the fact that the sleeves had shrunk and the PtP measurement stayed the same, which is what Giles had posted way back in 2010.

Based on the success of those, I did overdye some more "slow-sellers" a few months later. I wish I could remember the lot numbers, but all I can remember is that they were mid-weight and we did them

One thing that attracts me to IH UHF is the bright vibrant colors and unique patterns. While I do like the red stitching, the rest of it seems so......dark (duh). I'm going to ponder this one for a bit and see if there is space in my wardrobe for a darker shirt.

@DrPat thanks for the link. If you follow it to the end, you can see how old these are at this point. Don’t see much discernible fading or evo on the most current posts. Wondering how this will apply to this recent release of OD UHFs…

@Mizmazzle there are very few pics in that thread and the most current are 8 years old. Almost all pics are of poor quality and have poor lighting. I wouldn't use them judge potential evo of the new shirts.

Also, it's not clear how often they were worn and washed.

Just curious if the PtP measurement in the size chart is correct at 24.0,as mine came in at about 23.0 In my order note I asked that the PtP measurement be at least as big as published.

@Jett129 I can see @Freeman has just replied to your email man. I will check against the chart v remaining stock now but not noticed any anomalies across the board so far.
