It seemed as if they were really overwhelmed with orders in November and were pressing to get everything done before the New Year. The proverbial “Haste Makes Waste” I missed out on every IH shirt I wanted this season because of sleeve length, which is why I decided to roll the dice with them. Thanks for the compliment.  @mclaincausey

@Giles (or @Alex ), I think you mentioned partnering with a distinguished UK fabric maker (I can't recall the name, but it made me think of the likes of Harris Tweed) to make a CPO; is that still on the roadmap?

        Think it, be it.

Certainly is.  The shirts are all on hangers in the office, just awaiting a decision from our retailer as to when he wants to put them live.  The fabric maker is Fox: https://foxflannel.com/

So this might interest someone, and I wondered whether anyone might know about this brand or coat?

So my dad gave me permission to liberate this coat from my uncle (mum’s brother, not dad’s), who had pinched it and was (ab)using it working on cars, heavy machinery and spot welding, that sort of thing. I had been under the misapprehension that my dad had this coat while he lived in Alaska for a while before meeting my mother, but I now understand that he picked it up in the U.K. somewhere in the early 90’s when he needed a winter coat, so it’s actually slightly younger than me rather than slightly older. When I liberated it it was in a bad state, with oil and grease stains and small burn marks from sparks up the arms and I had to spend £90 or so to get it professionally cleaned. The right hand cuff didn’t quite come back, there’s a couple patches where the suede was worn smooth but the cleaners did a good job. There’s also a small hole torn in the back.

The patch is pretty worn but reads “Hand crafted by Homestead Sheepskin Products Box 5241 Christchurch New Zealand”. It’s apparently shearling leather made by GL Bowron & Co Ltd. I can’t find anything about Homestead online, but Bowron appears to still be in business selling sheepskins and sheepskin products.

Thought I’d share as a little “I think this is pretty cool” kind of thing, and on the off chance that someone who passes by here might know something about the manufacturer. Because of the family connection and how warm it is to wear in winter, it’s one of my favourite things. Below I’m wearing it with a UHF in the indigo buffalo check, and a pair of Benzak “Blue Flame” B-03s which is their tapered cut.

Apologies if too many images, I’m still getting used to this forum, mods feel free to remove any you think are excessive!

            Take the dive...

What kind of thought process goes into choosing which color snaps/buttons/tags go on a shirt?  It seems like some color schemes have accessories that don’t match as well as others.  Like the 309.  No black in that one so white snaps seem like a more obvious choice.

Also, what happened to the burgundy logo tags?

I have no idea what thought process H goes through when he is designing/speccing.  When Alex and I spec something, we just choose what we think will look pretty.

Not sure about the burgundy tags either I am afraid.

I don't really think about it, but then I guess ugly fuckers don't think too much….

Hey folks. Another new member! I’m from Sydney and have been lurking on here for since getting my first IH shirt last year.

I just got my first pair of jeans (777S-142bb) and despite scouring the forums I need to ask your advice.
Currently they are pretty uncomfy and while I’m sold on breaking them in, from what I’m starting to understand there will be very little stretch in the 14oz. Will I get any more movement in the legs? I don’t need knees to chest but maybe being able to walk stairs without grimacing.

I guess I’m just trying to get my head around what is normal and what is poor fit in the 14oz as it appears the 21oz can be more forgiving (once broken in) due to the stretch.

Hope everyone’s start to the new year is going well 🙂

@Deputy welcome to the forum. A couple of pics would help, however if they’re uncomfortable to the extent that you’re in pain walking up stairs then it unfortunately sounds like they don’t fit. You should get circa one inch stretch in the waist, maybe half an inch in the thighs, but doesn’t sound like that will be enough for them to be comfy. Anyway, drop some pics and you’ll get some feedback.

PS probably a discussion better had on the product page as more people who have a pair of these are likely to pick this up https://www.ironheart.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=13414.0

Thanks @LewisStonehouse. Once my wife/ photographer gets back from holidays I'll get her to take some snaps.

On a different note, what is the verdict on best options for warm climates. I thought the 14oz would be a good option but it seems that the breathability of the 21oz may make it the superior pair of jeans to avoid sweaty stems.

Many find the 21oz perfectly doable in warm climates. It does breath better than the 14oz for sure. It is early days but I have a feeling that the 16oz slub may take the prize.

As for your fit, if they work at the waist, but are making stair climbing a challenge, they may be the wrong cut for you. Show us some pics though.

On the topic of weights, this'd probably be a good place to ask this vs the UHR Future Products thread — don't wanna make everybody excited by a new post when it's just a breathability question, haha.

So I didn't realize this, but the UHR is more hardcore than the XHS, apparently? If so, wow. I don't know if my nads can take it ::)

It is, yes. But it is also a very different denim. What makes it hardcore is the tightness of the weave. At 23oz it is heavy of course but it is the weave that makes it badass. And the mental fading  😛
