[emoji106] Thanks, I like what I’m seeing, except for the “gear for good” tag on every garment. A minor nitpick, otherwise, their stuff looks good

Patagonia or The North Face? I’ve had TNF gear forever but am leaning towards Patagonia this time because it’s a private company as opposed to a publicly traded company run by shareholders. I like their supply chain transparency as well but don’t know how their gear compares to TNF when it comes to warmth. Is Patagonia worth the extra $?

Having owned both over the years, unless you go pro range neither are that great. I have Arc-teryx now and for the money it's the best wet weather gear I've ever owned.nothing gets through it.
North Face has a negative name now too in the area I live as being a gang favourite. It's a uniform for some of the county line gangs and they'd stab you up for it.

Forgot about Arcteryx. Here in Minnesota It’s a mixed bag of brands that are represented. I mostly see TNF & Patagonia but I do see Arcteryx on occasion and Canada Goose which seems to be worn by affluent soccer moms.

Do you own anything by Cotopaxi? I'm considering a vest or light down jacket from their sight because they're on sale but i'm unclear on their fits. Some of the reviews suggest sizing up but others don't. I actually found some Cotopaxi down jackets on clearance at REI and tried on a large, which fit well enough, but there were no xl's for me to compare sizing with. Customer support is taking longer than it should and I have yet to hear back on measurements, so I thought some anecdotal info might help. I'm also curious what you think of their overall quality.
-
@gaseousclay I only know them by recommendation and while what I've seen in person appeared quality, have not owned them yet.

I'm a Patgucci fanboy and this is a brilliant read….
Best advice I was given last year was @Giles suggesting this read to me. Got me

Phoenixing this thread in the hope of some solutions to a dilemma. I purchased the IHSH-234-BLK over the weekend and it is staying in Gosport while I consider snaps. It looks great as it is obviously but I had this idea it may be awesome with the pearl snaps for a bit of in-your-face contrast.
@Steve has kindly and skilfully mocked it up in Photoshop, but I’ve been staring at it so long I’ve lost all sense of what I think.
So is it a good idea. Pimp to pearl or leave as it is? Here is the mock up:

Pearl all the way.

I put the HD pearls on my
187 and it was the best decision I made. They are just plain logical!!

When in doubt, pimp it out!

Ladies and gentlemen. Wow lots of feedback, greatly appreciated, thank you all. In addition, unanimous support for the pearl! Which I have decided not to go with
I agree with all of you, it will look brilliant. It will also make the shirt a bit more of a statement piece, which may prevent me from pulling it out of the cupboard on a Monday morning. Being a father of thousands with a house under renovation and the social life of a dark ages leper, it will be a long time until I get to rock contrasting pearl snaps in da club. So I'm saying no.
The shirt can definitely be elevated a little however, so I'm going with a single GAH snap
