IH-526J-DD - Double Duck Type III Jacket

@JunkPants +1000
GO FOR IIIIT !!! -
When i saw the post about that jacket for sale in mint condition i knew i had to do something, it couldn't just vanish and land in a random non forum member house. A grail piece deserves a grail home !!!
-
@Raisinoux fortunately, the 526J22OD I have been working on this year has faded faster than expected. So, I feel I have a fair amount of steps towards my goal with that one. It should take the DD a few weeks to reach land in West Virginia anyway which gives me a little more time with the 22OD...thoughts are now properly sorted.
-
@Raisinoux Good looking out! This one definitely ended up in the perfect place.

Did a warm soak on my 526J-DD the other day to get rid of all the shrinkage.
Shoulders: 20'' -> 19.8''
Length: 26.75'' -> 26.25''
P2P: 22.7'' -> 22''
Waist: 20.5'' -> 20.3''
Opening: 21.2'' -> 21''
Sleeve: 27.6'' -> 27''Good to know the DD shrinks, quite a bit if need be. Nearly a whole size in some areas. I might just follow the UHR instructions by hot soaking and washing it. Which would be the Filthy Method as he was usually interested in removing all shrink to avoid the dreaded fade shift. I can hear him saying in my head (you're gonna want to get all that shrink out).

Wow! I didnt know any of these fresh specimens existed anymore… so happy for you! And very jelly!!
make Mike proud!

It makes me wonder how many other long lost, unworn grail items are out there folded in someone's dresser drawer or hanging in a closet. I have found a few older pieces but not unworn ones, so I feel quite fortunate. I will wear it in the name of Mike.

@Oaktavia several of us are living vicariously through this thread, I cant wait to see the evolution of this spectacular piece.
-
@SourPower haha...hoping it gets here tomorrow. I will hot soak it to remove any shrink. I am nervous about putting it through a hot washing machine like I would with UHR. This DD fabric is prone to marbling. @Alex you were ablet to get a fair amount of shrink from just a hot soak, correct? I plan to agitate the water as much as I can. I'll take measurements before and after to test it.
-
Is the fabric the same as the one used on the 634's DD?. I washed mine without knowing anything about marbling in the washing machine and it did not marble. Now I washed it cold and nonsense cycle. Not sure if that matters.
-
No spin cycle I meant!

That text autocorrect is real!!!

I've been wearing/abusing this a lot since it arrived. Washed once or twice. Looks all sorts of crazy right now, will even out and keep getting better with time. I included some additional pics from my time in the Catskills while wearing this beast.
I just don't want my jacket coming out of the washing looking like this. No offense to the owner of this one. I just don't want any of that. Not sure if this one was soaked beforehand but it makes me nervous to try mine in the machine no less.

@Oaktavia
just avoid the machine mate , give them a soapy soak if necessary.
