@ARNC yep! I mean it’s Bronze Age occurrences versus Iron Age retelling. Homer himself had anachronisms in the original source material. He was recording (with poetic license) oral traditions from centuries ago, through an intervening dark age of civilizational collapse. In fact I shouldn’t have used the term “city states.”

So we shouldn’t treat The Odyssey in any form as historiography. Never was.

        Think it, be it.

@endo The white teeth hadn't even crossed my mind, and I don't think its any more significant than the casting.

I'm also pretty sure Circe misjudged, and she knew it because she did change them back. That was a misconception she conceded to. I think individual shitty behavior is all too often seen as the buzzword "toxic masculinity".

As I took it: the main theme of the movie was to not hastily act without considering the consequences of decisions made without foresight. This was applied to Circe, and every other trial in the movie. Even Odysseus's decision to go to Troy. I think this also aligns with the intent of the original story, which was the Gods reaction to Odysseus's atheism and hubris. He learned his lesson and atoned.

The only real problem with Odyssey the movie was that everybody brought preconceptions into it. The rest is quibbles, of which i have a few, but nothings perfect. Things dont have to be perfect to get enjoyment out of them.

Got around to “Obsession” last night. The lead actor constantly pissed me off (maybe this was intentional?) but the actress who plays Nicki was incredible. Either way, lived up to the hype for me.
Might be that the horror/thriller genre has the most original writing these days.

Yea, Obession was brilliant! It definitely lived up to the hype. The actor who played Nicki (Inde Navarrette) was the star of the film - really unsettling performance...

She only made $20k from it, which is a shame since it made $450m at the box office, but it did have a tiny budget in fairness
