The Long Good Friday (1980) - Classic Bob Hoskins & Helen Mirren
A Prayer For The Dying (1987) - Mickey Rourke is a bit cheesy but perfectly balanced by another incredible Bob Hoskins performance, great plot!
The Crying Game (1992) - Best plot twist of all time?
The Boxer (1997) - DDL shines but for me Emily Watson is the real star
The General (1998) - Troubles related but more the organised crime elements. True story and a fantastic performance by Brendan Gleeson

      My contribution, to urban blues…

@endo glad you enjoyed it. I’m not sure if I’ve got much to offer in terms of other films with a similar context. I’ve heard good things about Ken Branagh’s Belfast but I’ve never got round to seeing it, so take that with a pinch of salt.

@Giles Had to google it because I had forgotten about all the stuff they did. My response given the current climate in the US,would probably not be Forum appropriate.

Probably not (unless you are a hardcore fan like my son who went to cinema in his yellow replica Kill Bill leather jacket)

God has blessed you richly, so get down on your knees and thank him. Don’t forget the less fortunate or God will personally kick your ass. I’d love to do it for him, but I can’t be everywhere. Willie Nelson

Sitting here in the cottage, had a lovely meal, a nice Pinot Gris, and smoked a little weed, and was wondering which film I really want to watch again. Turns out it's Ferris Bueller's Day Off. It's aged well.

Both movies consist of scenes that can be watched independently of the rest of the film. There's a hotel in Berlin that has TBL on a dedicated channel on repeat 24 hours. You can turn it on and watch a few scenes at any point, and it makes sense. I think Bueller would work the same way.
