The immigration systems crashed just as our plane landed. It took an hour for a back up system to get sorted, which was very manual.....:-)

It must have been a nightmare for the immigration guys, 12 planes to process through the evening...

An hour. We used the new MobilePassportControl (MPC) app. There was a dedicated MPC lane and we were at the front of the queue and the first people they tried to process before they realised all the immigration systems were down. So we had a pleasant hour chatting to the immigration officers whilst people were panicking somewhere else in the building The upside was, that because we were the first people to be processed for an hour, so when we got to the baggage hall, the baggage was waiting and there were no other humans getting in the way...

As a side note. MPC is great, if you travel into US regularly and do not have Global Entry, you should get MPC.

I swear nobody in the states knows about MPC but everyone knows about Global Entry. MPC is free to boot. Also, please stop telling people about it because I'm selfish and want my short lines.
