@steelydan I’ve got a copy of that Electric Warrior pressing. Sound is quite nice. KG does incredible work.

@Mizmazzle masana temples is my favorite of theirs but I intend to gather up the rest at some point

They are going to be one of those bands that I spend years kicking myself for not going out to see live when I had the chance

@GraemeE yeah…sadly, we all have a story like that. I’m bummed I never saw Tom Petty. I had 30+ years to do it and never made it happen haha.

My favorite KM album is Forest of Lost Children. That one thumps!!!

I managed to see Tom Petty a few times, but we’ve all got our version of that story — mine’s Elliott Smith. Dammit, so many missed opps.

I almost saw Prince. He played the same 2,500 person venue I last saw Kikagaku Moyo at. My buddy had two insanely hard to get tickets. He was gonna take his girl but they broke up so he offered it to me. I was so excited. Then, of course, he got back with that bitch!!! Gave her the ticket. Then they broke up again a few weeks later. Worst part is, she didn’t even care about seeing Prince. I’m not going to be able to sleep tonight now recalling this travesty!!

                    A great LP, isn’t it.

                    Yeah, love it.....

I’ve had tickets to see them three times. The first time the gig was cancelled, the second time I was ill.
The third gig, I arranged to go with friends, and later realised it was the 1st ‘anniversary’ of the first date with my girlfriend at the time, so I got her an extra ticket at the last minute. On the way to the gig (Newport in South Wales), my friend lost control of his car, and we hit a bus parked in a lay-by. My girlfriend had to be cut out of the wreckage by the fire brigade. Not only that, but she (literally) snapped her right upper humerus in two, and lost all feeling in her arm. It eventually returned 3 months later, but she had mentally prepared to lose the use of her arm by that point - that experience definitely drew us together, and we’ve been married 25 years!
Ironically, the band did an anniversary tour recently, for which I contemplated getting tickets for about a nano-second, before deciding better of it!

I don't own any of their records but I used to see them every year pre-pandemic when they'd tour the US. But it doesn't seem like they've been around since 2019.

@steelydan a have an early reissue as well. I think it’s a a year or two after the original release year. It’s sounds kinda flat. Not a lot of dynamics. Of course, the music itself doesn’t have a ton of dynamics as it is. Kinda garage glam rock ya know. But that’s what makes it so damn good!!

                              https://lightintheattic.net/releases/9499-untitled-white-album

In 1974, Hiroshi Tanaka and Yoichi Fuwa, the self-proclaimed heirs of the Beatles, crammed into a 75 square foot room and recorded over 50 songs, all without names. 19 of those songs would be self released on a record titled “Untitled White Album”, of which only 100 copies were pressed.

Their music is like a fairy tale. It’s leisurely and relaxed yet bursting at the seams with melodies and youthful ambition. Its whole attitude is gentle but splendid in evoking tears, anger, sentimentality, infatuation, intoxication, and a bit of craziness. Tanaka and Fuwa’s music has the power to bring that emotion to life.

This holy grail of Japanese psychedelic pop has been searched for by collectors the world over. Now, after almost 50 years, First & Last Records is proud to release the official reissue of this masterpiece. In addition to the 19 original songs is a second LP featuring 16 tracks that heretofore were unknown, released for the first time.

I think I've brought these guys up on here in maybe the main music thread a while back, but did any of y'all ever get into Happy End? They were one of Haruomi Hosono's earliest bands (I think preceded just by Apryl Fool). Some people (Julian Cope, probably most notably) dismiss them as sort of being like the Japanese Badfinger, but hey — I like Badfinger, too. Whatever the case, I think they rule. Tracking some of these down on vinyl was a big quest for me a while back.
