As Dennis said, I'd def try winching that to vertical and then ground anchoring in position.....

Update on the tree: Not saveable. Roots have rotted away, probably caused by a fungal infection. Trying to get a halfway decent replacement in that size will not be easy.

@Giles might sound weird, but i've had success opening a caseback with a big fat ball of duct tape, or a rubber ball. Salt water is pretty corrosive, getting the moisture out sooner would be better than later. In case the movement fails, a replacement movement (ref V175) should be about a hundred quid or so and can be done by pretty much any watchmaker. No idea about the solar cells in the dial, and how well they hold up to water..

Thank you. @peng posted a couple of vids to that effect above, but I was in the middle of nowhere, so could not do anything. The tool will be here tomorrow, so I'm going to wait for that.

Yeah, I have a boat, I know just how corrosive the stuff is I am stunned that it still works.......
