…and not to take away from the trees, but just bought a $650 CAD circuit board to repair our refrigerator. Thankfully, I think I figured it out before the repair man came to do so…

@goosehd here's some pictures the neighbours sent us. looks kinda weird, didn't really snap the trunk but also did not take the roots out.

@tody Doesn’t look too bad and should be an easy clean up. Might want to talk to an arborist and see if the tree can be saved by pulling it back into position and putting multiple ground anchors in place to secure it. Don’t know if it’s possible or how much of the root structure is compromised, but worth taking a look.

The more I look at these pictures, the more I think it can be saved (as long as the roots are still in good shape). You might be able to do it yourself by using a winching system and straps placed at the right points to help stand it back up. The trick is to do it slowly and not pull aggressively. You will also need to anchor it properly with cables for a few years on the weak side to let it reestablish the root system.

Don’t give up on this one…it might be worth it.

@goosehd it's a black locust which seems to feature a shallow root system. depending on what actually broke, trying to save the tree might be an option. tried to call our gardening specialist who planted it today, but no luck. will send him an email and try to have him look at it on monday.
will be heading home wednesday evening anyway, we're getting solar panels on thursday....

@tody That’s unexpected, but at least it didn’t do much damage. It’s that time of year.

As Dennis said, I'd def try winching that to vertical and then ground anchoring in position.....

Update on the tree: Not saveable. Roots have rotted away, probably caused by a fungal infection. Trying to get a halfway decent replacement in that size will not be easy.
