Random Rants

@iammortalcombat man that is lousy.
The one thing I’ll say is that I had a relationship end at 41 as well. At that point, every single one of mine had a big red flag that I identified early on and should’ve just bailed over, but I stuck with them and those red flags were always the thing that caused the relationship to fail. Obviously it wasn’t all them — I brought my own baggage as well.
I know it sounds like yours was more peaceful than that, but the silver lining I’ll add is that at this point, you probably know yourself better than ever and know what you want. Whenever you end up back in the dating pool, don’t settle for anyone you can’t be yourself around, and don’t gloss over any big issues that jump out. Move on, don’t settle, and you’ll find who’s best.
The reason I say all this is that I ended up in far and away the best relationship I’ve ever been in — the true love of my life — and we’re five years in, strong as ever. The ideal situation for you is out there! Hope you feel better soon-ish, man. I know it takes a little bit.

Woke up and checked the cameras at home this morning. This is when I discovered that tonight's storm has knocked over one of our trees in the garden. Still waiting for the neighbours to come up with photos of the whole damage. Hedge and fence probably took a big blow, too.
To make matters worse, this has happened on the side of the garden where we were trying to shield off the neighboring property which is being redeveloped. Six years after planting the trees, we finally thought this summer they'd be tall enough so we don't see anything of the three storey building they are planning there. -
@tody Doesn’t look too bad and should be an easy clean up. Might want to talk to an arborist and see if the tree can be saved by pulling it back into position and putting multiple ground anchors in place to secure it. Don’t know if it’s possible or how much of the root structure is compromised, but worth taking a look.

The more I look at these pictures, the more I think it can be saved (as long as the roots are still in good shape). You might be able to do it yourself by using a winching system and straps placed at the right points to help stand it back up. The trick is to do it slowly and not pull aggressively. You will also need to anchor it properly with cables for a few years on the weak side to let it reestablish the root system.
Don’t give up on this one…it might be worth it.

@goosehd it's a black locust which seems to feature a shallow root system. depending on what actually broke, trying to save the tree might be an option. tried to call our gardening specialist who planted it today, but no luck. will send him an email and try to have him look at it on monday.
will be heading home wednesday evening anyway, we're getting solar panels on thursday.... -
@tody That’s unexpected, but at least it didn’t do much damage. It’s that time of year.

@Denman-John I still remember the signs at Cathedral Grove - 'They fall without warning'.
Applicable here as well....
